Is he like a mix of Reggie Jackson and Deron Williams?
Found, yes. Signed, no.
The Spurs clearly would rather have the roster spot to try out D-League players than try to package Daye in a trade. That spot is also available for a bought-out veteran if it comes to that.

His career high is 31pts (8 3PM) vs San Antonio on 12/8/10

Most often a call up is just a call up for a cheap way to look at a guy with an open roster spot, but...
The buyout of Daye (while not large) is still odd - especially with this Green news & now this call up. I wonder if internally it was a big surprise they couldn't reach a deal with Green?
I also wonder if this means SA is really concerned with Beli's health and/or play? Concerned about Danny being tired?
Guy can score. I was a fan of his when he entered the league but then he just kind of fell off. I'll be interested in seeing him on the court
Right on that. Didn't make sense unless they thought JGreen was going to stick on the roster. They were going to have to pay Daye either way, and now it reduces the payroll that can come back in a deal by 1.5x his contract.
Maybe there is thought of trading Cojo and this guy is his replacement, the third string point.
A distinction without a difference IMO. You can't 'find' a Danny Green without bringing them in, seeing them in NBA games and analysing their fit and work ethic. Remember we cut Green twice before he stuck on the roster, and before Green we looked at Gee, Temple etc...
Why do we keep messing around with these 10-day contract players? It has never worked out...... Ala Pops Mensah Bonsu, Melvin Sanders, etc..
Soooooo, not Glen Rice Jr?... oh, and the spurs are still in' around... And Ayers is still on the team... And Bonner... And now J. Green can go anywhere else. Greatest front office in the league.
Couple things,
Williams is not a PG - at least not from what I have seen. So this does not replace Joseph or Parker.
This is spot #15 - we are not talking about a rotation guy, we are talking about a guy who is just trying to get a look and push the other players on the team at practice, so let's not flip out at the name that is currently keeping that seat warm. It will change at least one more time by June 1.
Well, maybe he can give the team tips on how to defend Curry since he played with him for two seasons...not that the team needs any.
if this was 2010 I'd be excited
Eric Williams part II?
