Men's basketball is division III level.
AD change. Wtf... They are absolutely awful.
Saw that yesterday. Didn't know his contract ran out at the end of January. Won't win a bidding war with Tech but I wonder if he would take less to be a coordinator knowing that Coker retires soon. Probably not but that'd be awesome, only negative would be that it's really close to signing day.
I've heard Jeff Traylor mentioned as well but that's probably even more unrealistic tbh.

Mike Jinks just became Bowling Green's new HC. Taking UTSA's safeties/special teams coach Perry Eliano to serve as his DC.
Kinda surprising. Never thought Eliano was in line for a promotion, his units have never been that impressive. I'm more upset about the Jinks dream being crushed than about Eliano leaving tbh.
UTSA's first All-American. He's in good company.
Yeah the two or three games I saw of utsa, it was very obvious Morgan was a man among boys out there. Could only imagine what he'd have done with a real QB and offensive coordinator.
He'll be playing on Sundays
Coker resigned this morning. We are a month out from signing day and have no Head Coach, OC, or DC.
Or ST/S coordinator. Wish he would've resigned a month earlier though, since I'm pretty certain we could've landed Jinks. Either way I'll always appreciate what Coker did, hope he stays around as an ambassador for UTSA.
Applewhite had an interview with Texas State after Fran resigned but he cancelled. Fans are thinking he may be our guy.
At this point UTSA needs a young up and coming energetic head coach to bring this program back to life. 1st place I look is the Houston area...
I love Jinks, but you seriously can't have wanted a HC that has had just a few years of coaching running backs?
If you can get him, I think a guy like Ruffin McNeil would be perfect imo
That worked out fine for Briles at Houston. I'd take McNeil too though especially since he'd most likely get an OC from the Leach coaching tree.
Coker waits till now to resign? Alot of good coaches have been hired. Loser.
Timing is very odd, especially since UTSA's last game was 5 weeks ago. I'm curious what caused this action. If it was Hickey's actions, then Coker would have been fired after the season. If Coker realized it was time to move on, I think he would have had the decency to resign sooner to allow a new hire and not cause as much damage to recruiting. My guess if there was some power struggle between Coker and Hickey on something like an extension or the amount of money he could pay a OC.
Yeah good point about Briles. And Jinks would have also been good at recruiting San Antonio.
Possibly also because of health reasons
UTSA is now in a worse situation than when Coker first signed on.
What a train wreck.
Their basketball is horrible...
But Hickey is on the NCAA tournament committee. So all is well?
My guess as well...hickey was in tears at press conference.
UTSA should pursue Bob S t. Not sure he'd want it though.
It's mostly about money. UTSA just doesn't have it. All will be better when they get some.
UTSA football was literally only a helmet when Coker came aboard, so no we aren't in a worse situation. Getting some new blood in at HC instead of wasting another year with a beaten down Coker outweighs the fact that its so close to national signing day imo.
Brooks Thompson will get fired this year as well.
It's always cute to see fans of UT try to throw shade on other football programs.
Basketball is never going to recruit well at this level until the facilities improve -- and that isn't going to happen anytime soon.
Football? Eh, we'll see who gets hired.
The timing isn't ideal but that's a pretty compe ive G5 salary and almost double what Coker was making.
