KenPom's metrics suggest both Baylor and Iowa State were overvalued by 6-10 seed positions, so rather than being 3s, they should have been low 4s, or solid 5s.
Factor in mediocre non-conference schedules and non-tournament team non-conference losses, you can argue both should have been 5s, maybe 6s.

I have no idea what happened to Jarvis Summers. He was good last season, now he's been so bad that he makes Marshall Henderson look like an efficient basketball player.
You have to make that call. You can't just start allowing defensive players the ability, based upon own discretion, to alter/end the course of a ball in flight. If it has any chance to hit the rim it has a theoretical chance to go in, so any interruption based upon subjective alters the objective nature of the spirit of the call.
You can't touch the ball in its downward flight if the trajectory is anywhere near the rim.

Damn, some colossal choke jobs today, tbh..
In the NBA there's the money factor that makes it difficult to sympathize, but I feel bad for some of these college kids, especially the dude that goaltended in the SMU game, he's probably taking it hard..
I feel sick but it's hard to sympathize with a team that missed their final 6 FTs, and if they make 1 of them, they probably win.
State did the same thing vs St Louis last year. They started fouling us intentionally with 3 minutes left down 11 and they won cause we couldn't make not one.
Even T.J. Warren missed FTs in that game.
Missing the last 12 FGs was just as bad. Got too conservative on offense by slowing the pace.
It was unbearable.

After day 1 I'm 11/16. My daughter, who has no clue about basketball, filled out a bracket based on which teams mascot is the cutest/coolest and she's 12/16.
