Stopped at this yardsale today, the lady having the sale had a lot of books and CD's. So I scored a book about the 's Angels and a CD by Willie Ames who I'd never heard of before. He was holding a National Steel guitar, that sold me. So I handed the lady 75 cents, smiled and said....adios!

While all of the 10 tracks were pretty good, this was the star of the show.

Rapping can be traced back to its African roots. Centuries before hip hop music existed, the griots of West Africa were delivering stories rhythmically, over drums and sparse instrumentation. Such connections have been acknowledged by many modern artists, modern day "griots", spoken word artists, mainstream news sources, and academics.[15][16][17][18]
Blues music, rooted in the work songs and spirituals of slavery and influenced greatly by West African musical traditions, was first played by blacks, and later by some whites, in the Mississippi Delta region of the United States around the time of the Emancipation Proclamation. Grammy-winning blues musician/historian Elijah Wald and others have argued that the blues were being rapped as early as the 1920s.[19][20] Wald went so far as to call hip hop "the living blues."[19] Jazz, which developed from the blues and other African-American and European musical traditions and originated around the beginning of the 20th century, has also influenced hip hop and has been cited as a precursor of hip hop. Not just jazz music and lyrics but also jazz poetry. According to John Sobol, the jazz musician and poet who wrote Digitopia Blues, rap "bears a striking resemblance to the evolution of jazz both stylistically and formally."[21]

    In the movie...Avante.....the opening scene...

The camera starts closing in on a little shack at a place called Knights Barn in Vallejo California 1953, there I sit on the floor playing with hammers and screw drivers, while off in the distance you can hear.....

We can also hear my dad and grandpa out in the back shooting big rats with 22's as they run across the back yard both drunk as skunks on rot gut homemade wine. About this time in walks my mom with some buttermilk, I hated buttermilk but nobody gave a .

    Now it reads....12 years later...

There I am standing on our own five yard line ready to field a kickoff, I catch it on the seven and its off to the races, I'm cutting and jumping and faking and........93 yards later....TOUCHDOWN!!!!!!!!!! I look up in the stands for mom and dad and all my sisters, they aren't there, that old Ford probably wouldn't start again. So as I head back out for kickoff coverage we can hear....

    Now it reads....4 years later...

There I sit on a bar stool at some bar in Kowloon (acoss the bay from Hong Kong) with this cute little Asain chick with a tatto of a blue butterfly over her right .............................

    On the jukebox

The final scene of the movie....as I walk down a long dark alley peekiing in garbage cans...................

The soundtrack would also include music by...

    Slaid Cleaves
    Marc Broussard
    Townes Van Zandt
    John Lee Hooker

I had my fun with Ohmwrecker, I was just in a sharing some music mood, it went as planned. But.....there is no winners with this, because we all have our on thang when it comes to music. Punkers don't like country and cowboys don't like punk and so on.

I did want to bring a lot of the stuff I listen to here for easy access, that's why ya see so much from me. When I want it's right here. Plan on adding some more for just that reason.

I do think it's important for listeners to not be too stuck in one musical world, have some depth. I pretty much like it all, the only things I can't take is polka music and that opera stuff, I'll find something I like with the rest of it, yep, even the Butthole Surfers.

Avante, it was all good until you posted that Kid Rock bull . Then it went completely down hill. I had you winning every round before then. And, The Gemini Method, posting that Bradley was like getting out boxed through most of the fight, then landing a stiff right in the later rounds and sending him to the canvas . Although I think Ohm started winning/scoring every round from K.R on.

Agree. Social Distortion loves country and Dwight Yoakum loves punk. Of course there is the famous Sex Pistols gig at Randy's Rodeo here in SA.

I like that tune with Sheryl Crow and this one. That's it for Kid Rock.

I walked my last daughter at home room and heard her playing that. The only time I ever asked her..."who is that?"
