So do I!!
Good joke. Cheers, Geoff
Bastian going to Manchester reminds me of him wearing Lampard's England jersey while playing with friends in a Munich park over the Summer. Bastian is my 2 favorite Non-Polish player
Where are Klose and Podolski ranked in your mind among non-polish players bro? They both play for Germany but they were actually born in Poland imho.
Well to your point, I consider them both Polish! [but more so Lukas]
I did not see Klose play much outside the German NT but he has stated his Wife & him speak Polish to the kids at home. Klose gave up his Polish passport at age 18 [1996]. I don't blame him, those were different times with Poland only being free of Soviet rule for 7 years. No brainer to leave to Germany for work/life
Podolski is a Polish Football abomination. He was basically not shown any interest so he went elsewhere. The 2006 World Cup was my first taste of Global Football [I spent the Summer in Germany] and it was Lukas coming out party. So his career has lined up with my interest in the sport and he looks the classic Pole with round face & short ash blonde hair.....and of course he also has the Ski in his last name. For those reasons he will always have a special place in my heart.
I believe both men married Polish gals and speak Polish at home to the kids. I think Klose is idolized while Podolski is beloved
So you must be an admirer of General Heinz Guderian as well. Guderian served on behalf of the Reich, but he was born in West Prussia, the territory is within the borders of Poland today.
I was unaware of him, my WW2 knowledge doesn't go deep enough into specific Generals. But reading his Wiki page, sure he sounds like a very knowledgeable, committed and overall fair man. It doesn't seem like he spoke Polish though. Native tongue is a big thing to me, I don't discriminate against Polish-Americans that do not speak the native tongue but I do take their opinions with a slight grain of salt. There will always be that barrier with a culture if you are unable to speak the language.
Isn't it interesting how Hitler was born in Austria-Hungary and Stalin in Georgia. I remember seeing the clip of Stalin speaking after Hitler's declaration of War. "Stalin spoke with a heavy Georgian accent. Saying words he had never spoken before". And he asked his people "They say the Nazis are un-beatable. Are they?"
The biggest irony is that the reds spiritual symbol - Karl Marx - was a German. They used a German's ideology to rally the troops and defeated his home country.
Haha well put.
I've been into WW1 lately. It's tough with so little content on Cable. There are quality Docs on youtube. Hit or miss though. The Apocalypse series on American Heroes Channel was top notch. The characters are far less interesting but the progression in weaponry and combat style is something else. Germans unleashing Lenin via Swizz Train to knock the Russians out of the War is the story of legends
Good to see Arsenal has done absolutely nothing since getting Cech. Fourth place looms.
Exactly what I've been thinking. They stopped doing any work in the transfer period after getting Cech. They don't even have a world-class defensive midfielder yet.
Second best move of the summer
Not confirmed yet though
His replacement would be Ghoulam, a better LB
another Basque player that Bilbao wants
There's one of them among us
