Charles Barkley weighed in on Scottie Pippen’s claim that he “was LeBron James before LeBron James.”

    Barkley’s response?

“No. No, he wasn’t,” Barkley said Wednesday on The Dan Patrick Show. “Scottie was a terrific player. But Scottie wasn’t a guy who could get you 30 every night. He was a terrific defender, but he wasn’t gonna get you 10 rebounds. LeBron could get you 30 a night. He’s the best defender — Scottie was a great defender. But he wasn’t gonna get you a bunch of rebounds every night. So the answer to that question is no.”

This is the same asshole who Game 6 '93 Finals lost concentration trying to get Pippen to lose concentration, then the fool initiated the domino fall that culminated with Paxson all alone at 24 feet out.

But, that incident is verboten to be spoken of. Watch the video from the in bounds on. It's all there.

Grant Hill was the closest thing to a proto-LeBron when healthy, not Pippen.

James just lost to a team starting Draymond Green at Center

If James truly were the player Barkley described, that would not have occurred.

You consider LeBron to be better than Pippen offensively?

Considering court vision & 3 point shooting, I give James a slight edge. They both were underwhelming at the free throw line. Pippen superior mid range and on the block

I consider Pippen's offensive game to be more fundamentally sound than LeBron's. However, I can see why you would take Lebron over Pippen when you bring up the court vision and shooting from downtown. The biggest thing that throws off this argument is we've gotten to see LeBron play as the #1 option for his entire career. While Pippen on the other hand was a great sidekick for Jordan for a good portion of his career. It's just tricky to compare a primary option to a secondary option.
