But is that really enough to time to determine which one is the best of the bunch?
They're all proven players imho, it's not like when you need several weeks of trial to determine whether an obscure young is good for your team or not. They each have 10+ seasons on their resumes and that's more than enough proof for the scouts I think.

Here's a list of FA bigs who would possibly like to play in SA for minimums:

    Brand
    Nazr
    Porkins
    Haywood (aka contract )
    Amare
    KG (if he doesn't retire)
    Reggie Evans
    Gooden

I can't ing believe LA selected a PG over Okafor. That just took a huge wet on the next 5 years of their franchise.

Didn't even get to showcase his best moves near the basket. Already the best offensive post player in the game.

They were confident that they would get at least one of Love, Jordan and LMA, and they already had Randle, so it was an easy choice for them to pick a guard over a big who they thought would only be a backup to one of the big names mentioned above.

Why would the Lakers take him when they already have Sacre?

On the contrary, they knew they were getting none of those 3. Love was sealed in Cleveland, LMA wanted no part of them, and neither did Jordan. There was a pretense of interest, because they couldn't help themselves, not once, but, twice.

But maybe they thought they could beg one of them to join, according to some Laker fans here, and I don't think they were being totally delusional. If a certain player had stayed on holiday a bit longer (instead of returning to LA and joining the begging movement) LMA would've probably accepted Lakers offer already imho. I think it's better to say LMA wanted no part of a certain player rather than the Lakers as a team tbh.

You could've had him, now all you got is a gangsta who can't even shoot 40% against the top NCAA defenses
if they picked okafor you would slam them for pairing his D with randle. when they passed on him you slammed them. what should they have done

    Russell also had 7 TOs.

Oak's gotta work on those freethrows, though.

Lakers going after PG in a league where you can get by the likes of Prigioni I mean Okafor is no Duncan/Davis, but he looks to be more ready for instant impact in NBA..
