I kept wondering why his hair color changed and finger came back. Plus didn't the other Bertans mess his leg up recently? Hope one of them can make the team.

Dairis Bertanshas a skinny frame with quite long arms. He’s a pretty decent athlete with good quickness and footspeed, but mainly stands out as a scorer who runs the wings well to get free on the perimeter. Once he has the ball, he’s able to either look for a shot (either spotting up or off the dribble) or slash to the basket. He’s also an OK passer who knows how to find his teammates when driving, and also in fastbreak situations.

Bertrans does have the ability and confidence to take over a game and respond also in decisive moments. As a ball handler he’s solid too, dribbling up in many occasions and pushing the ball well on the break.

Defensively he’s surely able to do his part and with good intensity and lateral footspeed, able to defend very close-by without fouling or getting surpassed. His awareness on help defense on the other hand is improvable.

If he can do what Belinelli did that's more than enough. He's a couple inches shorter. Hopefully, his aggressiveness on defense makes up for that since Marco wasn't the best defender. It would be nice to have those momentum buckets back. I was one of Cory's biggest supporters but I don't think Cory will ever have the scoring ability of this Latvian.

I guess I can provide little bit more info about Dairis. His shooting at first game was better than usual (5/8 3pts), usually he shoots 35-40% from 3pt line. He is a lot faster usually and excels in fast breakaways – I could explain his relative slowness this time with few injuries during the season with Bilbao that affected his fitness level quite a lot. I’m somewhat suprised that he did not showcase his athleticism – he’s capable (and not afraid to) to finish play with dunk with or without opposition (at least in Europe) – again, that could be explained with injuries during the season and his overall shape this summer. He can pass and distribute ball well enough, but overall he’s more of a „shoot first” guy.

His primary position, obviously, is SG, although he can play PG (he has played as a combo SG/PG in VEF RIGA and Latvian national team more than few times). High BB IQ, gritty defensive play, great work ethic . He’s one of the players that thrives with compe ion (for example - pre-season game with Sixers, EUROBASKET tournament vs France).

Biggest con - shooting stability fom 3pt line. He can have nights like 1/6 from 3pt line once in a while.

Still, Davis is way better player than Dairis

I wish he was a little bigger than Gary Neal, but the dude can shoot. I'm not going to say sign him up yet. I want to see the Aussie kid that's playing for Denver's team. Spurs supposedly are keeping an eye on him.
He is the same size as Neal. 6'5 1/2 w shoes.
