It’s done – San Antonio is going to become a Google Fiber city.
The Internet giant’s blazing fast gigabit network is headed to the Alamo City, the Mountain View, California-based company will announce Wednesday, according to several City Hall sources.
The confirmation that San Antonio will join a short list of so-called “Fiber cities” is nearly 18 months in the making and comes after disappointment that it had been passed over in the first round of announcements.
Surprised San Antonio doesn't have fiber internet yet.
We have fiber here in some new development houses and there's significantly less people..Nowhere close to San Antonio in terms of Province revenue, population, size and so on.
..for the downtown area at least.. Good news for the tourists
Sick, dude. Don't want to know what you're paying for that spot. I saw an ad in Berkeley for a 200sqft loft and it was $1800 per month. 200sqft. Not joking.
It's ing crazy, tbh. This place is $3400/month and it's a steal....935sq ft loft. I'm in shock how lucky I got. Luckily my company is giving me a rental subsidy for 2 years so that helps a lot...I thought Toronto's housing market was asurd, and here it's 2X the price. Many interns in my company are renting rooms for $1500...WTF?
I you not, I went to an open house even more in the core of downtown SF....and I had to wait in the lobby for 30 minutes since the unit was so packed with potential tenants. I just left, and that was a 600 sq ft condo going for almost $4000.
wtf that's not cheap
Cheap for here...like I said I saw 600ft condo going for $4000...most expensive city to live in in North America now iirc.
Oh SF. Yeah that's an expensive city. Beyond expensive actually. Overpriced more like it.
I'd consider expensive a 900ft apt for over 2,000.
Well there is a market for rich hipster s tbh
Looks like you tested in city, but..
..nonetheless
getting bumped up to 400 down in my new spot next week
Damn
I guess I posted my stats in the wrong thread
Webpass is installing 200 and 500 Mbps in newer buildings here in SF. Ridiculous. I bought a ty Netgear Wireless N router while I waited for my AC to come from amazon. Jesus it's been brutal.
Which ac router did you get, a nighthawk?
TP-LINK Archer C5 AC1200, got good reviews. I'm hoping it can give me near by 100Mbps connection. The ethernet setup for my apartment is pretty dumb, and would have to run an ethernet wire past the washroom and kitchen if I wanted connection in my living room.
You should be getting at least around 200 down with that upload speed. Might be a bottleneck in your wifi chain.
Internet is in metric French up there. No way to compare.
