Ariza is one of the better 3&D guys not sure what is so funny.
Upstairs has been afraid of Ariza and dem Rox since last season ...
https://theloveofhoops.wordpress.com...t-3-d-players/The “3 & D” player has become a highly coveted asset for coaches and GM’s over the last couple of seasons. With teams fashioning towards smaller lineups and attempting 3 pointers at an increasing rate, it has never been a better time to have a “3 & D” specialist capable of spacing the floor and knocking down open jumpers while excelling on the defensive end in one-on-one matchups around the perimeter. This summer the popularity of the “3 & D” player was solidified as players like DeMarre Carroll, Jae Crowder and Kyle Singler all signed big contracts...
Trevor Ariza
Rockets

Ariza sucks
lol at that article dodging the elephant in the room....danny green
Ariza is actually pretty good tbh, and his contract is only ~$10mil/season while ing Chandler Parsons is making max money.
How is Jae Crowder a 3 and D guy when he's a terrible 3 point shooter?
I didn't follow the Rockets very closely last season but I remember Ariza had really bad stretches where he couldn't hit a 3. Started the season like 12% from 3 or something iirc. I just checked and he shot a respectable 35% from 3, but Parsons had a higher 3pt% and and much better overall FG% even with a higher usage rate. That doesn't justify his wild contract but I think at this point in their careers it's safe to say Parsons is a better player.
To be fair, he was near the bottom of the author's list. I guess he just wanted to fill the list out?
Due more to their offensive system of chucking threes than Ariza being a terrible shooter. Also, while Parsons is better I'd rather have Ariza at $10 mil than Parsons at $16mil.
Trevor Ariza really didn’t do himself any favors as a “3 & D” player in this study. In addition to his aforementioned poor shooting, his perimeter defense was not any better as his opponent shot 3% better from the perimeter.
how is .35 respectable from 3
It's not great, or good even, but it's borderline passable. There's some ability to knock down an open three there unlike someone who can't shoot at all(rondo, mkg, tony allen, etc). Manu shoots 36% from 3 for his career. Harden shoots 37%.
more like .37 and .38 is probably the bottom as in specialist decent, .35 is kirby kind of efficiency.. manu has .368 because the last few years were screwed, but he was consistently over .38 and even .413 4 years ago..
Contract and that injury both have to be considered I'd rather pay The Rza who is healthy $10 million than a brokeback and broke down Parsons $16
ty coaching put Ariza on Spurs then we can talk
Ariza is a damn good 3&D but crofl at korver and some of the looney toons on that list
