It's actually not uncommon for people to die shortly after their spouse dies, but that's usually due to depression or generally losing one's will to live. In this case, I would imagine that the stress of the husband dying might have caused the wife's heart attack.

Damn, that sucks for Flutie. RIP. Hopefully he remembers the good times he had with his parents and doesn't focus too much on the heartbreak of losing them both within hours.

No algorithm to calculate the true probability for such an otherwise unlikely set of 2 events to occur given the confounding variable of the two subjects being emotionally bound to one another. (A dependent sample, so to speak)
