Pop and the Spurs control the local media/beat writers. If you don't play along, your access goes from limited to none. If you don't believe it, ask yourself this question, how many times have you heard Pop interviewed by Bill Schoening? Likewise with Sean and Bill Land or Andrew Monaco? The EN writers get whatever the national writers or other team's beat writers get.

Sure it does. How can you report on the team, if the team's not giving you anything? Also, if you report something and the team didn't want it reported yet, you could face repercussions (future access). Not saying the locals could be better or up to par with Woj, but he doesn't have the unspoken restrictions the local media has on them.
