They are not overrated by their own. Real English fans of the National team are full of dread everytime they play in international tournaments. They have to be one of the most pessimistic fan bases of any Nation. The drunks that go to the games to party and fight are not fans, but are presented as such. In fact today's England, as a country, is unique, IMO. They constantly denigrate themselves, especially compared to US and Russian citizens.

Actually I think Iceland just flat out beat a team that was pathetically disjointed. Even though they tried to pick a more offensive minded team vs. the defensive minded old "John Terry" teams.

It did not work.

Watching a team like Italy play some absolutely outstanding football ( with a self described weak team) shows just how incredibly incapable England was of forming a cohesive unit.
