That's gonna last all of a day or so until GS matches.
System player; productivity will go down playing in Dallas
Interesting tweet from ESPN's Ethan Sherwood Strauss:
"Awkward situation if/when GSW retains Barnes at max money. Highest paid player on the team after his teammates were in the Hamptons, working hard to recruit his replacement"
Durant really screwed with GS plans, probably did it on purpose too. They could've signed someone better to replace Barnes, but all those guys have signed with other teams while Lacob waits for KD's decision.
Durant being sneaky tbh,
GSW would have to gut their team to sign someone at the level of Barnes. They'll do it for Durant but there is no one else in free agency worth dumping the players they'd have to dump to open up a $26.4 million slot.
Because they'll only have about $17.5 million in capspace to sign a replacement for Barnes. I guess they could go after Wade and hope h's willing to take a paycut, but he wouldn't fit their offense at all.
I also hope Cuban goes after Ezeli considering they have no rim protector on the roster.
If GS matches, he'll be the highest paid player on the team. Gotta admit... that's strange.
They could get someone better than Barnes at $17.5.
dude, barnes is expendable. they don't need to open up $26 mil to get marvin Williams who accepted an cheaper contract than the one they offered barnes last year pre 2016 cap.
You guys are really underrating Barnes. $18 million gets you crap like Bazemore and Evan Turner.
Barnes is overrated, we've seen it in the Finals. Heck even Deng could replace him, and he'd probably sign for less too since he doesn't have to coddle rookies wearing diapers.
Deng can't shoot the three, he'd be a terrible replacement for Barnes.
Heck Barbosa was more effective in the finals.
Barnes couldn't hit a bucket and he had plenty of wide open jumpers too.
It would be terrible for GS to match that when Barnes isn't even needed there.
This year that is true. Next year it will be less so. 2018 will be stabilized at a level 30% to 40 % higher than last year and there will be teams looking to dump the dumb ass contracts signed this week.
If Barnes didn't forget how to hit jumpers, the Warriors are world champions right now.
