Houston was afraid of the fan backlash of drafting a Carr. That's the short and long of it.

letting your fan base talk you out of a franchise QB

How long is Palmer under contract? Maybe AZ would consider Romo.

It's going to be the Broncos, so his career will come full circle. As a rookie free agent he chose the Cowboys over the Broncos, and now he'll end up at the only other team who wanted him. Makes sense.

    1. Tony Romo stays in state and signs with the Houston Texans

The Cowboys are likely going to have to release Romo because no team will trade for his contract. Once he's free to sign anywhere, Romo will look for a contender that needs a quarterback, and there aren't many of those. He also should go to a place where they have another option in case he gets hurt. And no, Brock Osweiler isn't a great option (or else why would Houston be messing around with Romo?). But another year of development maybe helps, and adding a veteran like Romo to the mix could make the Texans a le contender if they can somehow get a dozen games out of him and he's healthy in January.

Seems plausible if he gets released. The offensive line will be healthy again and Watt and Kevin Johnson will return to a league best defense. Furthermore, we've already seen that Assweiler won't become a cancer as he remained classy during his benching last season.

    Do it Rick.

Disappointing if they release him. I was hoping they'd be able to fleece some desperate team.

I don't know if I want Tony going to a fanbase that hates him. Texan fans are ing re ed in general, for years I heard from them that Romo sucks despite being a tier 1 level quarter back. I'm sure theirs still dumb be@ner Texan fans that don't want him "Hur Dur he sucks".
