The most infamous hate crime? Lol

"The woman, Carolyn Bryant Donham, spoke to Timothy B. Tyson, a Duke University professor possibly the only interview she has given to a historian or journalist since shortly after the episode who has written a book The Blood of Emmett Till, to be published next week.
In it, he wrote that she said of her long-ago allegations that Emmett grabbed her and was menacing and sexually crude toward her, "that part is not true"
"Both Milam and Bryant were ultimately acquitted by an all-white, all-male jury. They later admitted to their crime in a story for Look magazine, for which they were compensated $3,000 ($25,000 today). Donham, who is now 82, testified at the trial. Her testimony further criminalized Till, whose humanity meant little to the jury of white men charged with seeking justice for a young black man accused of whistling at a white woman.
"
Her lie lead to a 14 year old boy being kidnapped and brutally lynched, just as guilty as the two that actually killed Emmett Till
I wouldn't call it the most infamous, but obviously it was one of the many significant cases.
Tf was up with this?:
But in 2007, a grand jury decided not to indict Ms. Donham, or anyone else, as an accomplice in the murder.
Apparently there were more people ,allegedly, involved with the killing but only two were charged.
Really makes the timing of this admission sketchy, apparently she only admitted this because a book she is involved with is coming out next week. She waited 10 years after the reopening and closing of the case (and 62 years after the crime) to confess that she perjured herself. Had she not made this claim then Till likely wouldn't have been murdered.
Lock the old up.
What came down with the 2007 grand jury?
As far as I can tell, the case was reopened and his body was exhumed to perform an autopsy for potential evidence . A grand jury was called to determine whether there should be charges against her and others. The grand jury decided criminal charges should not be brought against anyone. She was never charged in connection with the crime.
hang that kunt
Sounds like the same jury of Jim Crow rednecks that schemed at the original trial.
Nice post, tbh..
Um, I can find humor in most things, but there's nothing even uncomfortably funny about what happened to Till. If that isn't the most infamous hate crime, it's probably because they don't show the pictures anymore.
Draw and quarter her. People who make false accusations need to be punished.

Family of Till wants case reopened after the release of a new book (The blood of Emmett Till) last week. The accuser did the interview for the book, apparently, in 2008 but it only came to light now.
Not sure if there are statutes of limitations that could affect this but she absolutely was , at least, partly responsible for a 14 year boy being kidnapped and brutally murdered and waited 50 years to come forward.
