QB Casey Thompson of Moore, OK talks about his spring game visit last weekend (OrangeBloods):

“I had a great time. This was probably my favorite visit,” Thompson said. “I didn’t think it could get much better than first visits, but this topped it off. I got to spend time with my mom – my whole family was down there. It was a relief, I got to look around the whole campus, see where I’m going to go to school.”

“Her (Thompson's mother) first impression was the first thing my dad, my brother and I had our first time down there. It was ‘Wow, I didn't expect to like it this much.’ She was very impressed with Austin, the whole campus. One thing she noticed, I fit in with those coaches a lot, coach Herman, coach Beck, the position coaches, the area. She just thinks it's a good fit for me overall.”

“I got to hang out with a lot of the recruits that I’m friends with, got to see spring game. I was impressed with the offense,” Thompson said. “I sat down with coach Herman and coach Beck for a few hours. Everything was great.”

“I'm friends with those guys. I will be recruiting them. I didn’t too much last weekend because I didn’t want to put too much pressure on them first,” Thompson said. “I have to have a relationship with them first. I think they all like Texas a bunch though. I don't think I have to sell Texas too much.”

“I think that I have a lot of Shane (Buechele) in me, just as far as his throwing the football and being accurate, quick release, spins it off his hands. We have some the same with the running, but I think I'm more of a diverse runner, think I'm more of an athletic quarterback than those two. I’m more of a Kyler Murray, DeShaun Watson type. But that’s a good comparison (with Buechele and Ehlinger). I do have a little of both of those two.”

“I was very impressed with the offense and how they were slinging the ball around. That really impressed me and the recruits,” Thompson said.

Do you think if Rising had gone elsewhere we would have landed Thompson?
I would like to think yes.

If Thompson was OU's #1 target from the beginning, there is no chance that we would have gotten him. Now, if Rising decommits for whatever reason and OU turns to Thompson, I think that he sticks with Texas.

If he was a QC coach for WR's isn't this the part where Coach Herman hires Jordan Shipley? I mean he's not up to anything nowadays is he, it's almost too easy...who better to learn route running from?

I know it's probably more of an association with Connor Williams, but this is the olinemen I want the most. A kid who is 6'6 and will likely put on another 20 lbs before he even gets to Texas, can move his feet and has long arms. He is the perfect OT

Time to reevaluate what happens here with Casey Thompson. Texas flipped Rising from OU so are we trading Thompson for Rising, essentially? And what about the Houston recruits do they like this move, are they just as hype about Rising?
