I don't recall the Democratic candidate claiming that the deplorables were going to violently overthrow the country if they won.

fwiw, Alternet and WSWS have been complaining about the exact same thing for about a year. maybe it's not the right wing per se that's targeted but merely "non-mainstream", "hateful" or arguably "extreme" points of view.
viewed from an economic perspective, optimizing mainstream views makes sense, that's where the clicks -- and the ad revenue -- come from.
it's certainly true that Google news has been crapified, ditto for Facebook and Twitter. but if this is true, why not use other tools?
