NBA Mock Draft Entering the NCAA Tournament
    Jonathan Wasserman, NBA Lead Writer

    30. San Antonio Spurs: Jordan Bell (Oregon, PF, Junior)

Jordan Bell has made a case for himself as an energizer with his athleticism and activity.

The Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year, Bell regularly makes an impact without needing touches or plays drawn up. Averaging 11.4 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per 40 minutes while shooting 62.1 percent from the field, Bell projects as a force around the basket, where he finishes, tracks down loose balls and protects the rim.

His tools, explosiveness and motor suggest those strengths can carry over. The San Antonio Spurs could see that and look to Bell for hustle play up front.

I like a lot about him. Would rather take him in the middle of the second rather than the first, though. But the team will need front-court depth in their pipeline.

I would give him the MVP of the tournament so far, he may have played himself into the first round.

I really really really want. He has a huge motor and is a versatile monster on D.

    I want, I want, I want.

    Him or Anzejs Pasecniks.

Really wish Spurs can trade Kyle to ORL for their 2nd.

I like him still, but don't know if I'm as all-in.

One thing that bothers me, and this is more about DX and their videos, is how they show stuff that won't be relevant in the NBA, or sometimes the opposite. The issue they make of how good he was in college when denying post entry passes won't mean anything in the NBA when those players will be much bigger and stronger, and those steals in college will turn into easy shot attempts. Kind of reminds me of Brogden's video that showed his offense when getting the ball in sets inside the three-point line and such rather than what he could do when he was initiating.

The height is a big deal, and his 6-8.5 might be even smaller depending on how his tall hair factored in. His defensive rebounding issues, contributed to by his height and strength, are worrying.

But the blocks+steals rate, the whole 'fastest shuttle time in history' thing, the passing for his position, it's all pretty promising.

He might be an Mbah-a-Moute type.

Mbah-Moute lateral defensive speed is closer to a perimter player than a big. He's a legit SF.

I dont see that in this guy. Hisn footspeed is closer to a big than a wing.

Sixers call Oregon forward Jordan Bell 'Dennis Rodman-like'

Jordan Bell's versatility stood out to the 76ers on Wednesday morning.

The 6-foot-7, 223-pound power forward out of Oregon was one of six draft prospects at the Sixers' second predraft workout. The superior athleticism of the Pac-12 defensive player of the year was evident in the portion of the scrimmage the media were allowed to watch.

But the team was also impressed by what it learned about him off the court.

"For a Dennis Rodman-like player who has the ability to play across a few positions, mainly defensively, we sat with him, had a great interview as we've learned more about him," Sixers executive Brandon Williams said

He's definitely not going to be there when Philly picks in the second round

Sign me up on the Bell Wagon for 29 also!

I like his ability to run the floor, which will complements Murray's game well when he likes to push it in transition.

His athleticism in the halfcourt, and around the basket is special. He looks bigger than 6'7-6'8.

He looks a little stiff when he guarding guys on the perimiter, but his recovery & shot blocking looks Ibaka-lite.

His attributes such as hustle, and wanting it more is something you can't teach. Something the Spurs will miss when Manu is gone.

He doesn't have a bad form on his jump shot, so that won't be a problem long term.

For a guy that has elite athleticism, he seemed to roll slow to the basket on picks. I don't know if that's how Oregon's offense is designed, but he just looks a little awkward.

I wish he was a year younger, but technically this would be his senior year coming up.

Would be a great pick at 29.

Yeah his knock is his size at PF, and lack of outside shooting to play SF. Still love the motor though.
