I don't like this kind of rock.
It's too fluffy, doesn't stick to your bones. I need something with some guts, some grit.

Freddie Mercury doesn't have that grit, he's too fluffy. How many prefer the FAR superior vocals of Neil Diamond over Joe er? I want Mick Jagger, Dylan, Joplin, Eric Burdon, Leon Russell, John Fogerty, Van Morrison not Gordon Lightfoot, Steve Perry, Freddie Mercury.
Like I said, soul/R&B is where ya need the true vocalists, not rock & roll. Try country without that twang, try reggae from China.
Sorry to butt in. But it's clear that you have very little clue as to what makes a song work. Very few singers can tackle a Queen or Journey song. Those are widely considered two of the greatest singers in rock. If you don't believe me, you can Google during your next session in between your searches for kiddie porn.

I was listening to Steve Perry in his Hanford days, saw him at the El Ranchero. Yes the guy can sing as can Mercury but this is rock and roll. I like a lot of others aren;t looking for smooth vocals in that genre. That comes with the soul singers, the R&B cats.

Janis Joplin is probably the greatest female rocker, compare her to Patsy Cline or Ella Fitzgerald or Nina Simone. Totally different deal.
BUT....Steve Perry, Freddie Mercury stand no chance vs The Platters The Drifters, The Coasters etc. But, that is another style of rock.

yeah but the reverse can be said. can hendrix try to do bohemian rhapsody? can the doors do Don't stop me now? music is a matter of taste, so if queen isn't what floats ur boat, that's fine. but when we're speaking about objective talent, not about preferred style... purely as a VOCALIST, mercury is more talented than the guys you're bringing up. he also has more gritty performances (I Want It All, Headlong, Dragon Attack). He's not a one dimensional diva.
How did The Rolling Stones get so big (far bigger than Queen) with Mick Jagger as the lead VOCALIST? How can Janis Joplin be the Queen of Rock? Who is looking for the kind of voice that Mercury has in rock & roll? Vaughn Monroe is considered one of the greatest vocalist ever he'd suck as a rocker. Sinatra can't do rock & roll.

jagger and joplin are great vocalists... they deserve credit. i know you love lists. go find any list you like with the greatest rock vocalists of all time. do the search yourself. fine one where mercury, jagger, joplin are't all high on the lists. here's a couple to get you warmed up. but i'd rather you go find a list with dylan higher than mercury
