Truth is kawhi only chance to win the mvp is if the spurs get the first seed.
And the dpoy was there as a compensation if even in that scenario the mvp was given to someone else.

When I said it during the Christmas game against the Bulls, I was literally terrorized in the game thread.

He can't win it every year. And I agree that him shouldering most of the load on the offensive end is taking an effect on his defensive of plays, some times he's just blatantly lazy on some defense of possessions.

Maybe the Spurs can trade him before it hits 10%.

    By like 8%...

Love the statistical rigidity we are held to.

Don't care. He already won it twice. Moving on to bigger things.

    So what.

He is a fantastic player that can get even better.
And he is a Spur. No one I would rather have at that position.

    We are a guard away.

Was nice to hear Simmons mention having to at some point take "eye test" into equation while giving Kawhi a ton of credit. First time I've heard that from a big analyst all season. It's all been advanced stats talk to try to tear down Kawhi (as a defender)

Think Chinook has mentioned his point..

And so, the subsequent drop in the number of contested shots is pretty alarming (2 less)..Kawhi is either a tad late to get back on defense or he's simply not giving maximum effort..

He's just saying that the offensive load is taking up more of his energy and so his defense has dropped by a tiny smidge. He still calls him the best perimeter defender in the league. But since Draymond is still Draymond and Gobert has emerged like he has, Kawhi probably won't win DPOY again.
And LMA is the polar opposite where his offense is suffering because of his commitment on the defensive end.

I agree, though I think the issue with him is the Whataburger syndrome...

Nah. Thinking it's alarming is just stupid. Look at Harden's contested and we already know he's not a good defender.

    Like Eberley said...That means NOTHING.

Kawhi is DPOY again even if he doesn't win it cause they feel sorry for donkey. Did anyone ever consider teams getting down big to the warriors and chucking for whole quarters or halves making gaymond's #'s look better?
