Everyone quit fooling yourselves. No one wants to come to SA. It literally is a market and area to live in. The only light in SA are the Spurs and playing with guys like Pop, Kawhi, and Manu and that's usually where aging mid tier players who are chasing a ring sign with and no one else wants. The likes of Paul Geroge, CP3, Melo, Wade, and Lebron (all names I've been reading that are 'showing interest' in playing on the Spurs) is just circle jerk talk and mental masturbation. LMAO Can anyone seriously imagine the likes of CP3/PG13/Lebron etc. walking up and down in a place like SA.

This is Spurs circa 2000-2002. Build your team around Kawhi, develop your players, hope you get lucky with them turning into a young TP or Manu, keep knocking on the door until you break through and beat the Warriors like TD did with the Lakers. RC and Pop are too disciplined, they have been through this before, the formula is written...draft well and develop your young players
    Well said.

He'll stay with the Clippers(most likely scenario) or join a team in a more glamorous city, and then we'll get a report a few weeks later where a source claims that Paul "strongly considered the Spurs" clockwork..
    damn

I don't know why Spurs fans get their hopes up..if a player has multiple commercials on national TV, he's never going to SA..

Doc needs to hang up his GM hat.
Does anyone think he was getting to keep that with Jerry West coming on board?

And don't overpay for an over 30 player like Paul. Again, did Spurs fans really think we were going to give Paul $30 million a year and have over half the cap ($52 million) tied up in one position with two older point guards who have a tendency to get hurt?

Sounds like the Spurs were saving face with the "we weren't too interested because we have TP" thing.

Now that I've cooled off a bit. I don't discredit your or Coachmac's sources. I just want to know if the Spurs were all in on Chris Paul and if this has thrown a wrench into their FA plans if they really were supposed to be meeting with him.

That was the ESPN guy's words, not the Spurs.

He's still younger than Paul and would probably cost half of what Paul costs, allowing the Spurs to get other pieces. And you have a player in Hill who can swing between the 1-3 depending on matchups.

As was the tweet you quoted.

And Hill is injury prone. Stop it.

It's not really hard to envision we were going to have a meeting with Paul assuming he became a free agent, but with the trade happening there was no point in meeting.

But I still doubt he was at the top of our list for anything other than appearance reasons.

Him and Paul are neck in neck on games missed over the last 6-7 seasons. One would have cost us over $30 million a year, the other (if he's coming) is probably going to be getting half that.

I didn't know coachmac had sources until the NBA Award show came around I guess that meeting with the Clippers really did us in if the Spurs were interested in CP3. Nobody was expecting a sign and trade.
