Weakest position on the team tbh...

Spurs front office need to build a contender over the next 5 years while Leonard is a stud. Do they make a lot of moves this off season to continue the le contention? Or do they hold sail for the 2018 season, which appeared the most likely outcome prior to this season with the expiring contracts of Parker and Gasol, plus the opt renegotiation with LMA deal?
The Shooting Guard position has some interesting choices and IMO the easiest to get specialist guys. With the uncertain pending retirement of Manu and the uncertainty of Simmons future and contract, Spurs only have 1 SG under the books that's worth a rotation. Unless both Manu and Simmons resign, the Spurs will obtain a shooting guard. With also the need of a playmaker due to Parker's injury, the Spurs would be wise to look for a combo guard to take pressure of Leonard.
Top Range - 18mil+ to max contracts
Wade
Re
KCP
Hardaway
Forget it. I would love Re , perfect Spurs tbh, but these guys will demand big contracts to get them.
Midrange - 8 to 16 mil contracts.
Waiters
Tony Allen
Holiday
C.J. Miles
Evans
Roberson
Sefolosha
Snell
Mclemore
Kover
There are some interesting names and some play similar to Danny Green, which will provide consistency. Holiday and Sefolosha has a Pop player all over them, same as Snell and C.J Miles who would both blossom in our system.
Outcome: On the grounds Manu retires, there is a likely scenario we pick up one of these names. Evans could be had cheaper than Simmons and will address the combo guard we need.
Veterans and the raw - Min to low dollar contracts
Meeks
Carter
Rush
Foyle
Gerald Green
Ian Clark
Folye, Meeks, and Carter have value here and I would assume they would come cheap. I would stay away from Carter because we need a rotational player for the future rather than one year swan song. I also have soft spot of Brandon Rush in third wheel 3&D. I don't see many prospects on the market either and besides we have Forbes for that.
Outcome: If Spurs miss out of the mid range guys, I can see Meeks getting a look at who has had 2 injury riddle seasons, and Rush could have better value than say Holiday per dollar ratio. Besides the Holiday's said they want to join together.
Trade targets
Bradley - 9mil
Batum - 22mil
Will Barton - 3 mil
Ellis - 11mil
Jordon Clarkson - 11mil
Hood - 2 mil
Burks - 10 mil
Bradley would be the perfect player to get but it would take a LMA trade and perhaps more than that. He is almost too perfect. I like Clarkson here with a good deal for years to come and plays the dual guard role, plus Lakers could draft a pg and they will be over crowded here. Nuggets have to address some overcrowded issues. Burks and Ellis are also interesting options. Batum just seems too expensive but would thrive in our system.
Outcome: Unlikely. Although I would disagree with it, I would imagine the Spurs go with Simmons and Green and look for one of those mid range guys like Sefolosha, and move Kyle Anderson down the full time PF spot. I really do hope they find a playmaker.
Note* I don't know enough about our Europe stashes, including the Hanga guy and his game, nor how much it will cost to bring him over.

Weakest position on the team tbh...
Guard position is our biggest weakness. Patty should start and Murray back him till he is fully developed. Bradley would be an excellent addition. I don't see Celtics trading him though. Danny Green isn't the answer. Simmons could be the answer if he can develop a vey consistant shot. I would prefer another F though that can stretch the floor and play D to compliment Kawhi. I don't see the Spurs being able to unload LaMarcas for anything valuable after his playoff performance. Our hope should be for Gasol to not opt in so we can find younger pieces.
Paul Millsap just opted out, what do you think?
I read a tweet that said Hanga could come over if Manu retires.
** 1 weakness I saw in this series is a PF that can start a fast break off a rebound, there are not many Raymond Green's in the NBA but i'd take a doorman's Draymond green type player.
Many in the Knicks’ organization also are high on Spurs wing Jonathon Simmons (as are 29 other teams). But Simmons will be a restricted free agent, so San Antonio can match all offers made to the 27-year-old. – via ESPN
Free Agency, Jonathon Simmons, New York Knicks, San Antonio Spurs
Disagree. Green is a 3 and D guy that all teams need. He is hardly The weakest link.
From the outside looking in, y'all need a playmaker who can score. Lowry makes sense if y'all can foot the bill.
Spurs have Kawhi, Green, likely Simmons, good chance Hanga, maybe Manu. Wings should be a relative strong point.
Spurs need:
Someone who can create off the bounce, penetrate and score efficiently (that'd be Murray except for the score efficiently part)
Big who can protect the rim, go out on the floor on D and not be a someone other teams don't have to guard (good luck with that one)
A reliable microwave scorer off the bench (like Mills was supposed to be but wasn't)
Green hasn't been a 3&D guy since his egregious contract tbh
I bet the Dubs would snatch him up tonight if Pop cuts him.
They have some scrubs at the end of their bench. Doesn't change a thing. Green wouldn't even get minutes over Ian Clark
He'd take Matt Barnes roster spot
The most realistic would seem to be Re -- but not if they have to overpay.
Posted this in the pg thread by mistake but heres my 2 cents.
I wouldn't mind trying to get Waiters. Havent't seen a lot of him but from what I have seen he was playing pretty good ball for Miami prior to his injury. He looks like hes a player whos not afraid to take the big shots and would bring some toughness to the team.
The options at PG and SG are very limited, tbh..very poor crop, this off-season..
It would be nice for any mod to sticky this thread and the off-season thread.
If I could choose between Waiters or Simmons, Ill choose Waiters. However Simmons should come cheaper and is a better defender. So Ill go the cheaper option.
I'd love to see Snell and Kawhi reunite
One of the worst players in the league?
The Anti-Westbrook
Yep, that's the guy
Don't sleep on snell or mclemore......... I think these two allow you great production for the dollar output. they should be great in our system
Dwayne Wade please take the minimum, and come here...
I bet he's going to Cleveland though
Flash is too flashy to play for the Spurs. Not that's bad, I like it, but his lifestyle don't match w/ San Antonio.
Give me Korver all day, every day. He would fit like a glove. Great shooter, keeps the ball moving, and is an underrated smart team defender.
