No details provided. Don't know if he presumes he'll get offers well in excess of the MLE, doesn't think they'd offer him that or he wants to leave.

As an aside, most interesting Pop quote today, when asked about whether they have to tailor their team specifically for Warriors: "It's more the way the game is being played these days. You know, people have to be pretty versatile: be able to pass, dribble, shoot. Uh, you know, people that are not threats offensively have a hard time gettin' on the court. So, you have to be able to guard those kinds of people and you have to have that type of person."

All well and good, but Spurs' defensive rating in playoffs was 109.5, a full 8.6 worse than their league leading regular season average and a number that would have ranked 28th during the regular season. It was also 12th among playoff teams and worst among teams that went past the 1st round.

Playing the 1st and 3rd ranked regular season offenses didn't help and neither did Leonard missing about 4 and 1/2 games obviously, but they were struggling with him. The biggest difference was Dedmon's deletion from the rotation from game 4 of the Grizzlies series on. If he's going to be lost, then they need to think long and hard at picking a similar type at 29 (some are expected to fall in that range) and pursuing Reed, a projected cheaper alternative, in free agency.

Pop is right. Most unskilled defensive specialists (McGee, Capela, Jordan, Gobert, Thompson, etc) at least know where to be on the court offensively to get easy baskets. That's not the case with Deadman. I mean, the guy can't even set a proper screen.

Spurs have bigger fishes to fry, and there's tons of Deadmans in the D League. Make a run at McGee.

Most likely PATFO knew this way before the playoffs hence the reduced playing time and terrible treatment.

Sorry hater, we all know how much you wanted to get drunk w/ him.

I hope he gets drunk with Gasoft instead and takes him on the way out.

Meh, he had an opportunity to really blossom and secure his spot on the Spurs but he blew his load when he got the opportunity. The last two months, when he got the starting job, his confidence began to waver and his play declined.

I don't see him being the starting 5 moving forward anyway. I've come to a realization, LA will probably be here another year because the window to trade him for decent value was shut this past year. I'd demand LA to lose weight and get in tip top shape and to start working on his rolls in PnRs.

I hope Spurs transition to a 1-C, 3 wing, 1 PG philosophy w/ LA starting at the 5.

Need to add the special bonuses for weight like they did with BoBo.

And I'm on the same page as far as lineup goes. Whats the point of having great defense in the season and then losing it in the playoffs. I'd just like to see more versatility which is why I've been advocating for Kyle to get his chance at the four. You have Murray, Green, Leonard, and Kyle on the wing with that length and that's gonna be sufficient d which is sustainable in the playoffs.

    Unsurprising.
sasaint mentioned it since Dedmon's demotion wasn't just to the back of the bench but to the very end of it.
Maybe Milutinov jumps in his spot... specially if Spurs retain both Pau and Lamarcus and make commitments to play Bertans and Anderson more (the two big lineups weren't a winning combo even with MVP Kawhi in the team. So it just doesn't leave enough minutes available for Dedmon. I think Milutinov can be third center.
It's intriguing. I think Dedmon showed different things (he flashed a jumpshot) and had room for improvement but he's not a youngster anymore and being banished to the back of the bench didn't do him favors so I would think he will look around. The other thing is that it might just be due to them being stuck with Gasol at this point.

i think Pop just hated Dedmon...if Dedmon played with the lack of heart and terrible defensive decisions and rotatons Pau had, he would have been pulled QUICK...but Pop was stubburn and kept Pau out there despite all the mistakes...despite the fact that we were a better team with dedmon starting in the regular season...we instantly became the best defensive team in the league after a horrible defensive start to the year with pau startng

Dude get real. The only people who connected with screens were lee and dedmon. After the first playoff game it was evident pau and lamarsha were the rodger dorns or the spurs. Also why the beautiful game died. These tall s are too stupid to know that the screener is open after the screen just as much as the man youre screening for. coaching as well. You knew you had to get the assist and transition points to win the series, so what do you do? Put in guys who cant get fast break points or get people open. Grade school basketball 101. But glad there is a woman on staff and planets are in orbit.
