The Warriors did not sell out Game 1 of the NBA Finals
Chris Cwik,Yahoo Sports • May 31, 2018
Maybe Golden State Warriors fans have grown tired of seeing their team in the NBA Finals. With just minutes to go before the Warriors took on the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 1, tickets were still available for purchase.
That’s right, Game 1 of the NBA Finals at Oracle Arena was not a sell out, according to Darren Rovell of ESPN.
It’s not as if the two teams would have to play in front of a bunch of empty seats, though. As Rovell says in his tweet, there were fewer than 500 tickets left. Most of those tickets were in the 300 level.
We should also note that Rovell’s tweet came 15 minutes before the game started. Given the low number of tickets still available, it’s definitely possible the game sold out before tipoff.
Or who knows? Warriors and Cavs fans have seen this matchup before. This is the fourth-straight season the two teams have met in the NBA Finals.
After already seeing their team win multiple les during its current run, maybe Warriors fans are saving their money so they can hop on the 49ers bandwagon early.
What were the prices on those tickets?
Ive been priced out...tbh I can’t justify spending 600 bucks for me and my wife to sit in the upper level
The cheapest lower level seats I saw were 800 bucks each.
$600 - $800 to see your team in an NBA Finals is not that bad generally speaking, tbh. But if the fans know that they'll have plenty of opportunities to see them cos the league's cheating their asses off to get them back there, then I can see easily foregoing it.
No not 800 total bro, 800 each so if I go my wife will want to go that’s 1600 bucks...as much as I’d like to see my team win a le, they ain’t paying my Bay Area mortgage or my children’s daycare so. I’ll see it on tv
there is plenty of money in the Bay to fill those seats.
from idiots who don't understand or care about basketball. And then you wonder why the modern game is such a failure
Their team is expected to win the 2018 NBA le. Why pay money for something that you know is probably going to happen anyway. So the fans now expect an NBA championship and would rather just watch it at home I bet. Another thing to consider is it's the same Finals matchup since 2015. Fans have been there done that with that matchup and don't see the need to pay big bucks for a seat for the same matchup.
Dudes are struggling to pay $3500 rent for their single bedroom in SF. Give them a break man.
OP acts like they sell $15 courtside seats like the Spurs
Good post! It's not much to get excited about watching Durant take another helicopter ride to the top of Mount Everest. Maybe an injury or two will change the landscape.
Why do people blame Durant but not the rest of the Warriors?
Before Durant they were selling out their finals. But now apparently there's only room for one sell out in their building
IMO: the rest of the Hamptons Five are equally as cowardly for begging him to join.
This, tbh
Dude, you go with a friend willing to pay for his ticket. I personally think that's still too high. You might as well just buy a nice 4K TV instead.
What about the 2011 Semis when the Mavs prison raped your Lakers?
Plus, parking, gas or transportation to the arena, etc...if not concessions at the arena, then food while you're out. Looks like close to a $2,000 outing when the dust settles.
