The only way RC is getting out of this mess is by scheming with Illegal Borrego (he owes PATFO) to essentially swap Patty (along w/ Pau's partial guarantee in '19-'20) for Batum's contract (PATFO already committed to LMA) as a way of landing Kemba. To make this happen, Danny (a Jordan guy) would either have to opt-in or agree to a S&T to go back to his roots in NC.

I feel like Batum needs a change of scenery ala Diaw & can't be any worse than Pau/Patty for essentially the same amount of money (he has a player's option in '20-'21 which he can be talked into opting out for a long term reasonable contract as Danny's replacement). Assuming Rudy's re-signs for the MLE, the team would have a formidable starting 5 or closing 5 if LMA doesn't want to start at center (just sign some pseudo starter to play 15 minutes a night).

    LMA
    Rudy
    Kawhi
    Batum
    Kemba

Bench mob: DJ (6th man), Derrick, Costello + 20th pick: Jontay Porter (can play PnP w/ DJ)

Please, no more of the old guard.....(pun intended)

one of the best backup pg's in the league.

Took a bargain contract 3/9M, helped ring in 14 and brings the culture.

Not on him that he's starting ....we dont have the horses

You have zero room to talk tbh. At least Patty plays on the court for the Spurs, unlike team cancer Kawhitter WHO MAKES MORE MONEY.

I think his contract is definitely tradeable but i don't see the spurs looking to move him unless the sixers throw the farm @ kawhi

The second best player down the stretch and probably the second best player in the playoffs. Was asked to play backup PG to Murray. Then starting PG. Then backup SG upon TP's return, then starting SG once TP went to be bench for good. Then played the second most minutes in the playoffs. No issues with his contract.

as much as some may be pissed about these “loyalty” contracts, it certainly helps sign FAs. Patty did do us a favor on his previous contract and Pop saw to it that he was taken care of.

I do prefer Batum and Kemba to Pau and Patty... sue me.

Patty made shots but he's a reason the Spurs cannot ever win against elite talent. He's a sieve and cannot set up an offense, only jack off shots for himself coming up a screen.

B-b-b...but he only sucks because he plays more minutes than he should! Not because he can't do anything at an NBA level except chuck! Really!

So in order to unload a guy who is owed $13M in '20-'21, you want the Spurs to pick up a guy who is owed $27M that same year?

A guy who is owed $76M over the next three?

A guy who is currently making more than both Kawhi and LaMarcus, averaged only 11.6 points, shot below the league average 3P%, and is coming off the worst season of his career?

I would love to have Kemba, too...but he ain't worth selling the farm for.

it's a pretty bad contract. he's overpaid for what he brings to the table. and even though he didnt shoot that well, his playoff performance won me over a bit. patty and manu were the only guards who didnt their pants against gsw.

Pau's ever declining role (and borderline unplayability against the 2 best teams in the west) make patty's deal look decent by comparison

patty is to short and he can not play d
he is ok only if he can shot at 45 percent from deep
spurs do not have ceatators to do that now

To be clear, Mills is a undersized SG. He's not skilled enough a creator to be PG, without the SG beside him being the de facto PG and initiator of the offense (ie he fit well with Ginobili, when he was running things). That's not worth paying $50M/4 yrs. We overpaid badly on that contract. If we can do it without taking a bath, we should move him...

And in the past, the Spurs have not overpaid for 3 point "specialists". Neal, Mason Jr., etc.

Either they thought that Mills could do more and/or they thought he could be a decent PG.

He's way overpaid for what he brings.
