That was an unwinnable election for the GOP with how unpopular Bush was. Clinton could have probably won in 08.

They busted her up pretty good---she got the message and retired. , the first Palin still ain't re-surfaced. She went back to her comfort zone...she'd discovered exactly what she had (Media had shown her the contrast), and alas, it was more than good enough.
