All I know is Apple Maps is a steaming pile of . I was trying to use it in my rental with Apple Carplay (since it blocks the use of Waze and Google Maps) and Apple Maps literally said 'no directions found due to road conditions' for an address in South Bay. I thought there was a ing mudslide or something - nope, just being ty.

How ty an app do you gotta be to not recognize an address literally 30 minutes away from Apple's headquarters? I had to turn on Google Maps separately and look at my phone versus the big 8" screen my Dodge Charger had.

Yeah Apple maps is utter , and the worst part is that you can't set default apps in iO .
So if you have a link to a location it will open in Apple maps

They've changed that at least tbh. My iPhone opens up Google Maps (at least when browsing in chrome).

Maybe it opens Gmaps from Chrome because they are both Google products.

What if someone sends you a location from iMessage or iMail?

Yeah, think it still sends to maps when using apple programs. I use google apps (mail, calendar, etc) for most things, just iMessage and Whatsapp I have this issue.

I usually just copy/paste into google maps, although google maps gives idiotic directions a lot too. Waze is probably best, but it uses way too much data.

Google Maps is def not perfect (eg giving U-turn directions in places you shouldn't), but nothing like the incompetence I've seen on Apple Maps. I mean - it gave me WALKING directions to the location I was going, but not driving directions (up a mountain) in an area a stone's throw from Apple's HQ . Waze is good too but I guess I'm accustomed to Google Maps.

yeah the u turn directions suck, but i still use it. Carplay works pretty good overall, I had a rental with it about a year ago. I haven't used Apple Maps in a long time

CarPlay is great (sans Maps), as you can access Apple Music/Spotify/Google Play music and your texts. I rented a Dodge Charger where everything was touch screen, it was awesome.

Android Auto automatically wins since it allows Google Maps, pretty much the only reason.

I'm shopping for my lady. She uses Droid and has a Pixel 1. She wants the Note 8. Just seeing if anyone of the Droid users have it and if It's worth it, or should I just get her the Pixel 2?

I tend to shy away from the mainstream phones. Just my little thing I do.

I had a moto X pure for almost 2 years. Pretty much stock android. Clean phone, fast, nice screen, awesome very loud front facing speakers, never ever lagged once. Only cost me $200 when I got it. Passed it on to my kid.

Now I'm going the other way. While every thing is getting bigger, I went smaller. I bought an iPhone SE for $120. It's a 6s in a 5s build. Forgot how great it was to use phones easily and securely with one hand. Fits nice in the pocket without feeling like I'm carrying a piece of plywood. It lasts two days on one charge. It can do 4k video. And takes great pictures. Not quite at cool looking as the new saturated ones on the newer phones, but this little thing is great.

I am fully aware how awesome the new $600-1000 phones are, but I ain't paying that for a phone.

The Note 8 is a huge phone but it's amazing.

I'm not eligible for an upgrade yet so I'll keep the S6 for now.

I prefer Samsung phones but I'm not a fan of curved screens, and other new Android phones are underwhelming.

Besides, I like my IR blaster, the ultimate trolling tool

Still a 300 Dollar ISC is huge. If the phones are at 0 dollars..Its a no brainer.

They had the S8 and the S8 plus for free in Black friday so hoping we get a combination of free phone and and in store credit
