Brief take on the groups and predictions..

Group A: Typical softish draw for the hosts; if this weren't going to be played in Siberia and on Putin’s watch, I would have picked Russia to bottom out in the group..

1- Uruguay
2- Russia
3- Egypt
4- Saudi Arabia

Group B: Perhaps the toughest group in tournament. Iran and Morroco have been the two most impressive teams in the Asian and African qualifiers. I think they will take points off Spain and Portugal and games will be close.

4- Morroco

Group C: Cakewalk for France. Should top the group with little fuss..

2- Denmark
3- Peru
4- Australia

Group D: An overall tricky group/bracket for Argentina, tbh. If they bring their qualifies form, they could easily be knocked out. If they mess around, but get the second place, France awaits in R16..ouch..

Group E: Brazil are a lock to top the group. Swiss and Serbia are both kind same level of meh, but the former always find a way to the R16. Costa Rica aren't doing in Russia..

Group F: Germany could drop points here, but should still be the class of the group-- a tough one, tbh..I don't trust Mexico outside their hemishpere, so I'll just go with the other European nation..

Group G: It is a question of who comes first and second between England and Belgium; Tunisia and Panama are simply not good enough to cause any fits for both teams. Think Belguim top the group on goal difference.

How many chances were there of them getting the easiest group possible? How many chances were there of every single local team in the history of World Cups never getting, at least, a semi-decent tough group?

Uru is a tough pot 2 team. Probably even pot 1 level.

France qualified through the playoffs abd got eliminated on the group.
And Mexico was Mexico. Not easy but not a superpower either.

Although I will have to give it to you that that was probably the hardest group a local team ever got.

- Assuming guerrero wins his appeal. Playing against a team with zero technical ability like Australia but with extreme advantage in physicality can be tricky though. Whoever loses points against Australia between Denmark and Peru finishes third.
