Probably not b/c the major confederations all hated Blatter. His power base was all the minnows getting their above-board bribes.

What's for sure is that the 2018 World Cup has slightly less luster without the participation of the USA.

Say what you will about the level of US Soccer - a tournament of this magnitude gains prestige when the glamorous / wealthy / powerful nations participate.

this tournament would've gained nothing from USA : no quality football, putin would've embarassed trump and the media would've tried to spin it in absolutely pathetic ways, russia in ukraine talk, a sleep inducing usa-england 0-0 discussed as a major victory with a continuation of how usa would win the world cup in the next 30 years. American fans in Russia would've only caused trouble, the small number that would've gone there anyway...

absolutely nothing of value tbh, panama are a better team and they bring more to the table tbh.

Be that as it may, viewership of national team games in this country for past US participation has been in the millions. That sort of exposure can't be trivialized, PARTICULARLY because as you mentioned, we aren't even a footballing nation to begin with.

On your other point, U.S. soccer fans don't particularly have a notoriety for acting like hooligans (I don't recall outbreaks of violence or shameful behavior by their fans in any of the previous world cups - outside of outlier cases [the exception not the rule]). I would add that in my experience the general 'U.S. tourist' is less cultured and sophisticated than the typical U.S. soccer fan.

son I completely agree with you on the bolded part tbh.... still, I wasn't talking about the fans doing bad things, usa football fans are ok, but imo few would've gone to ussr imo. I was talking about the endless political circus surrounding usa being in a world cup in russia.
and I disagree, viewership will not suffer that much, because fans will always watch the world cup, especially fans from a crappy footballing country with no hope to ever win a wc. also many latin american countries are playing, and that's the largest fanbase in the states, so lots of bandwagoning going on for mexico/brasil/costa rica/etc. The new england types will bandwagon england/germany/brasil/argentina.

If the tv channels are dumb enough to not give the world cup the exposure it deserve these people will see it on streams, latin america tv, sky sports and so on ... it might not appear in the stats, but the fans are ALWAYS THERE FOR A WORLD CUP TBH

    You both are racist pigs.

I don't care about race. To you all, it's the gateway criterion for any conversation.

Mexicans like TGY that ignore the cartellian atrocities, and turn the other way on the corruption that occurs at all levels of the Mexican government to conveniently point to the USA as the source of their problems are TRULY ####ing deluded.

Why are Mexicans trying to emigrate to the US in mass droves..?

I LOVE Mexico, the people, the culture, the food, the cities, its natural wonders, its beaches, the women... but I cannot stand, or side with, its deplorable government. Think about this for a second: Ex-Mexican president, Carlos Salinas de Gortari MADE businessman, Carlos Slim, into the "richest" man on earth (according to Forbes - based on traceable assets). How the does a "democratic" head of state create the wealthiest man on earth without simultaneously lining his own pockets...? Carlos Salinas de Gortari isn't even on the list of wealthiest people (all of his assets have been conveniently hidden ). The s bag, like every other Mexican president before and after him are THIEVES of the highest order - thieves who created laws that allow them to steal from the Mexican people without fear of reprisal (the law states that EVEN when it is known they have stolen, the state or the people cannot seize or recover the stolen assets).

All modern era Mexican presidents, under the socialist "democratic" banner - Porfirio Diaz, Victoriano Huerta, Lázaro Cárdenas, Miguel Aleman, Adolfo López Mateos, Gustavo Diaz Ordaz, Luis Echeverria, José López Portillo, Miguel de la Madrid, Carlos Salinas de Gortari, Ernesto Zedillo, Vicente Fox, Felipe Calderon, and the current puppet president, Enrique Peña Nieto - they are all thieves - the lot of them.

But again, the state controlled/influenced media subtly deflects all blame and conveniently points to the USA as the source of their problems - and of course the people gobble it up. Give me a ####ing break! YOU or anyone who believes that malarkey are sheep to ignore the obvious. The political schism between the USA and Mexico has nothing to do with race and everything to do with the corruption that's allowed the government and the cartels to have a stranglehold on the nation. The very same corruption that has allowed the government to pillage "The Mexican People" and strip them of the bountiful wealth that Mexico has to offer (the wealth derived from natural resources such as oil, gold, silver, copper, etc...). But yeah, let's blame the Americans - it's a much easier narrative to sell (and gullible peeps like you all have bought it).

While we're at it let's also ignore the atrocities committed by Mexican immigration officials, and other "federales" along the southern border. They rape, they murder, they torture, they abduct, they pillage all without reprisal or justice - but yet Mexico demands "fair treatment" along the northern border - another glaring double standard.

Ex-Mexican president Vicente Fox recently broadcasting vulgar videos about Trump is an example of the populist deflection run amok... it's a scheme they've created to form a "true cause" to rally around... But he was a lying thief just like the rest of them - with hundreds of millions of dollars in his estate. Politicians like him need to be behind bars.

And for the record Apo, I'm not light skin... I'm about as brown as they come.

    I'm just not ignorant.

I think you misunderstood my post entirely.

The point is that a statement for the defense of US sovereignty can be made without the reasoning somehow being related to race. If Americans somehow "hate" Mexicans, then why on earth would Mexicans want to emigrate here? That makes no logical sense whatsoever - but the emigration out of Mexico into the USA has continued for decades. The reason is because many times Mexican citizens are left without hope for a future back home. Opportunities are bleak. With the cartels having bought out entire cities and townships of legitimate governance the problems are exacerbated. OF COURSE THERE ARE MILLIONS OF HONEST, HARD WORKING PEOPLE living in Mexico!!!! Race is not the qualifier. BUT they are left without hope because the government is CORRUPT, and cartellian crime has only made it worse. I say that because Mexican government has been corrupt for over 100 years (long before the rise of the cartels). As a socialist nation, Mexico harvests, mines, and extracts billions of dollars from the land and transfers that wealth to state-owned funds. The politicians, however, line their own pockets with those funds instead of enriching the people - the rightful owners of that wealth. That is why people leave for the "Land of Opportunity".

TGY's schtick is tiring and loathsome.

Calling me the Mexican equivalent of an "Uncle Thomas" is flat out derogatory.

AGAIN, I love Mexico - more than half of my family still lives there... That, however, doesn't preclude me from rightfully pointing out its problems. Furthermore, anyone who does point them out isn't a defacto racist (their argument). The fallacy of such a conclusion is ignorant in light of the truth.

I see what you mean son. Don't worry, only the mentally impaired think pointing out something wrong is racist, tbh we don't even have this "racist" in europe so I can't even take it seriously.
