24 games, 263 minutes, still not a single block for Joffrey.
Sure, blocks aren't everything. But for blocks, among players who logged at least 200 minutes in a season with the Spurs, he might be the worst big man of the Robinson+ era, almost 30 years. It feels like everytime I see him in the area when there's a drive to the rim I see him planted and out of the way.
Even Matt Bonner in his final washed up season blocked 1 shot in 206 minutes. Steve Novak blocked 5 shots in a Spurs uniform in fewer minutes.
Matt Costello has 11 minutes in one game but still chased down 2 blocks. Tony Parker already has 1 block this year. One might expect Joffrey to have lucked into one by now.
Curiously, after being traded to the Bulls last season, he also had 0 blocks in 241 minutes.
And Joffrey has a player option for next season ...
68 players so far this season have played at least 1 game and not recorded a block.
Only 6 have played at least 200 minutes.
6-0 point guard Isaiah Canaan (236m)
6-0 point guard DJ Augustin (675m)
6-3 point guard Jose Calderon (523m)
6-4 point guard Matthew Dellavedova (439m)
6-6 shooting guard Malachi Richardson (265m)
and
6-11 center Joffrey Lauvergne (263m)
Curry Stopper.
Spurs should try to sign Bolomboy on a cheap 2+1 deal and eat Lauvernes' salary.
This is Yinka Dare bad.
He only played 5 min tonight lol
How hard is it for a big to get a block on a put-back by the rim in traffic?
That dude is worse than G league bad. We could get somebody similar to JaMychal Green (no talent energy big with size) easily from the G league. But Spurs FO likes character guys
Was PATFO under the impression that this guy is in high demand? Joff's agent earned every penny.
We need a défensive big, who can protect the rim, that’s not bolomboy profile. I prefer a bogut over him by far.
28 games, 289 minutes
ZERO BLOCKS
j∅ffrey
Prime j∅ff example against the Raptors
He just backs himself all the way to the rim, squats down to get smaller, doesn't jump, and meekly raises his arms.
I swear Matt Costello is a better NBA player.
Little Lowry took the ball up on Joff like he was the one eight inches taller, tbh. Very sad.
Since I posted these numbers, both Canaan and Dellavedova have recorded a block.
What kills me is Pop giving this guy all kinds of rotation minutes and often in the mid to late third quarter to let teams jump out to big leads.
Thx Parker for recommending the Spurs sign this scrub.
Me, too. And Dedmon.
They said he didn't fit offensively...Well, Spurs offense is even uglier this season.
It's weird. Pop's the best but he's willing to sacrifice team's success when he dislikes a player's personality...Spurs frontcourt were a lot better last season
Here's a FUN STAT for all you stat nerds.
Joffrey is listed at 6-11. If his season ended today, having played 289 minutes ...

He would be THE ONLY PLAYER IN NBA HISTORY at 6-11 or taller to play at least 200 minutes and not record a block in a single season
NBA HISTORY
Dude is worthless IMO.. clumsy goofball who tries way too much offensively and rarely finishes. This no block stat you guys are pointing out just put him an additional 2 feet into his already 6 foot grave for me
Dedmon also spent the off-season adding a jump shot..he's now much more playable offensively, as reflected in all his on/off offensive metrics compared to last season..
Team is 97.9 / 107.3 when he’s on the court (-9.4) and 109.0 / 103.5 (+5.5) with him off the court. Yes, he’s more likely to be paired with bench players but he’s also more likely to be going up against bench players. Even if Kawhi gets healthy, this team is a Gasol or Aldridge injury away from him having to play 12-20 minutes a game. Ugh.
By far the weakest link on the team.
Getting rid of Dedmon / Simmons was horrendous in light of who they kept/added.
Is this a thread about blocking Lauvergne from getting on the court?
