She could ask for Peter's share, in cash, of the Spurs.

Meh. Just another statistic. 50% of marriages end in divorce. Nothing to see here.

    This could be real bad

If a divorce triggers a sale, that's bad. And considering how Holt was one of the 'poorest' NBA owners, he might have to sell.

Teams undergoing sales don't spend money, if anything they cut costs. The Pistons had a lost season where they didn't spend money because of the sale process if I remember what a former Detroit beat writer explained in a recent podcast.

Could mean not signing Kawhi to a max until a sale and that could be too long a wait. No mle, no tax spending.

I hope it doesn't come to that stuff

The day-to-day runnings of the organization are managed by Rick Pych.
He's been doing well so far. ( By that i mean, he wasn't mentioned at all; safe to say, business as usual since Holt ceased his "power" to his now soon-to-be ex-wife )
    Am I missing something here?

How will this affect the Spurs, hmmm? Who knows, but I think they care a lot about the team and wouldn't want to jeopardize its success with their personal matters.

Holt is a white nationalist oligarch that treated his wife like an objectified piece of meat to further the agenda of racist white males everywhere while still being a slave-owner. /typical bat boots post.

Holt’s decision to retire from Spurs painted as a ‘family decision’

    https://www.expressnews.com/sports/s...as-6883343.php

“Our ownership in the Spurs has always been a family affair,” Julianna Hawn Holt said in a statement. “For many years, I’ve had the desire to take a more active role with Spurs Sports & Entertainment. We felt this was the right time to make this transition.”

The move comes nearly two years after Holt Cat announced Peter Holt’s children had moved into new leadership roles within the company while their father continues to head the Caterpillar equipment and engine dealership for what he said would be at least a few more years.

Sources say Peter Holt’s retirement is in line with a gradual downsizing of his professional life.

On Feb. 24, Holt Cat announced additional promotions for the Holt children, daughter Corinna Holt Richter to executive vice president/chief administrative officer, and son Peter John Holt to executive vice president/GM.

Still, the odd timing of the announcement — in the midst of a season in which the Spurs are contending for yet another le — raised concerns about Holt’s health. Pych said Holt’s self-admitted alcoholism was not a factor in his decision to retire.

Eh, I wouldn't go full McCourt just yet. The Holt's are principal shareholders but I've never seen them referred to as majority shareholders. It should be easier to divide the shares if it comes to that. Given the advanced ages of both, I wonder if they just transfer to their heirs as is probably laid out in their wills anyway.
