Nice. I have been wanting to rewatch this specific game for years.
This is the playoff opener against the Wolves in 2001. The Spurs won this one 87-82, and of course this was one of the many legendary battles that Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett had. Here are their stat lines from the game:
Tim Duncan: 33 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 blocks, 1 steal
Kevin Garnett: 25 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steal, 1 block
***I wasn't able to find the highlight clips for people with time constraints.***
Nice. I have been wanting to rewatch this specific game for years.
Glad I could help with that.
I love when Tim does that re dance with his tongue out after icing the game with a bank shot.
Man, DA sighting. If only we had a player like him today.
Thanks for posting these... I had not watched a young Timmy. Resolution is poor but these posts you have shared will tide me over while the season gets back.
Yeah, that was a classic. Before I posted this, I was looking for their matchup in 2004 where Tim thoroughly outplayed KG. He had 36 points and 20 rebounds, compared to 22 and 10 for KG.
The pleasure is all mine......sorry about the resolution in some of these videos. They were the best I could find.
As for seeing a young TD, I watched him in all 4 years at Wake Forest as well as all 19 of his seasons with the Spurs. He's my all-time favorite player. You can definitely count on me posting more of his games and highlights from when he was young, including some of his games from college eventually.
I'm sure I'll have enough material to get us all the way to the start of next season.
I always liked Terry Porter.
But Derek Anderson. Man, I had hopes for him. That's what I get for counting on a Kentucky player.
He got viciously taken out by Juwan Howard on a dunk attempt and wasn't re-signed. It's not like he sat out an entire year with an injury no doctors could find and fled to LA.
watching this game right now.
Post up nba was a different beast in that era.. quality bigs were the show. Garnett (who I had not seen play in his youth either), also put on a good show. The twin towers were just amazing.
I still remember watching him about his contract in the postgame show right after getting swept.
You’re seriously pissing me off man, today was supposed to be productive!!!
Not even Mills gives up season high performances to whoever he is guarding every night like Anderson did. Dude could really put the ball on the floor but it always felt like he gave up more than he produced here.
Man, I forgot how much physical play they let go by. In 3 minutes of regulation I just saw 6 current day fouls
Plenty more where that came from.
Well done. Though so much for getting any work done.
It was absolutely my pleasure.
He didn't want to be here and was gone at first opportunity.
Juwan did us a solid. There would have been no money for Manu had they kept DA at market value.
Yep. DA thought he was too good for the Spurs and faded into oblivion after he left for greener pastures. KL's uncle should look at DA before wanting to pull Kawhi from the System.
If there's any truth to that rumor.
thanks for posting! watching it now, damn the game was so different back then. bigs ruled the world.
No doubt!!
White is that type of player perhaps even better overall.
"San Antonio lead the league in average attendance"
back when this city was hungry for championships.
and is it just me, the mic system, or what? that crowd is loud as !
