Well, since no one seems to be the one to start this, I'll go ahead and jump on the grenade.
I don't normally like to be all doom & gloom to start a Game Thread, but, well...it's hard to get excited about this one. The Spurs are 3-10 in their last 13 games, and couldn't even beat a struggling Thunder team on Saturday. Oklahoma City lost Adams to an ankle injury, PG and Melo looked like they had done Jager shots before the game...and San Antonio still lost by double digits.
Now, the Spurs are going up against the top team in the West, Aldridge is out with yet another vague injury, and Pop's also decided it's a good time to let Manu rest on his laurels. I know Ginobili is like 65 and there is a B2B tomorrow, but with a loss tonight, the Spurs will officially fall out of the playoff picture and all the way to 10th place. Obviously, the Magic game is the more winnable of the two and I wouldn't be surprised to see both LMA and Manu suit up tomorrow, but it's still kind of hard to figure out exactly what Pop's angle is here. There isn't a lot of season left to right the ship.
For tonight, the Spurs have to hope to get a career game or two from a couple guys, and hope Houston's three-point barrage is off target. Even then, it's gonna be hard to keep pace, but I suppose crazier things have happened.
The silver lining is that Kawhi could be back as soon as tomorrow, and the standings are so packed in the West that a couple losses from fourth through tenth could quickly vault the team back into the middle of the pack.
Edit: Date in the le should be 3/12, but you all get the point.
CIA Poop has been coaching like a bottom 3 coach so the rest of the West doesn't see our cards. In PATFO we trust
Aldridge and his so-called chronic right knee soreness. Pop doesn't even care about playoff contention at this point. Just hand a note to the official and say we forfeit. Give everybody the day off.
Pop can't even keep his lies straight. So first, it was up to Kawhi when he feels ready to play. Now, it's dependent on whether Pop feels he's ready.
no thats the plan for the home games
He already takes all of Kawhi's credit, might as well decide if he'll play or not.
There would be a mutiny if Pop does not let Kawhi play.
The question is, how much will his minutes be managed or restricted?
If spurs allowing kawhi to call the shots then ya he will play. If its upto pop then surely he will suggest shutting him down since he aint prioritizing wins.
CIA POP not showing his cards before the playoff matchup +1 upvotes
Your doctors cleared him months ago. It's not like he's rushing back.
Don’t think the Spurs will even have to play Fatty heavy minutes to tank this one.
Feels like another loss tbh imho
Hoping the secret weapon has a good game
Well, at least Chris Paul isn't going to play because he's 32, second game of a b2b and he has bad hamstrings.... Oh wait!
Would love to see White get some run in this one.
Triple double for Pau tonight?
It’s time for Patty to step up and have a good game, probably won’t though
