Goddammit this got me right in the feels. I'm watching it. Fred Rodgers was a big part of my childhood
I watched Mr. Rogers pretty regularly too, it aired back to back with Seseme Street on PBS. Pretty amazing that a children's show of that era could cover heavy topics such as death and divorce in a simple, honest manner that kids could understand. And that's probably due to the fact that it was such a small production.
I remember it being Sesame Street, then The Electric Company, and then Mr. Rogers.
321 Contact was also great.
I gotta be honest, I know I watched it as a kid but I don't remember a damn thing except the creepy puppets.
What about the mailman...Mr....McFeely?
But yeah, the Land of Make Believe stands out to me as well. At some point, I realized that Rogers did all the voices. Which made it weird to me. Creppiest puppet was Lady Elaine.
Silliest was the cat that only said "Meow meow" with different cadence and inflections so that all the other puppets could understand it.
It always bugged me as a kid that he would come in and take off one pair of shoes and put another pair on. I never understood that
Reading Rainbow was awesome...I remember the host being on the original Saved by The Bell season, the one centered on Ms. Bliss...oh man, back in the day kids tv rooled.
Movie of the year in what has been a fairly weak movie year thus far. It’s not the most significant of do entaries, basically a Mr. Rogers fluff piece. Subjects like teh gays is handled awkwardly. But if you watched the show growing up, there’s no way you leave disappointed. It’s a fun do entary and great eye bleach considering the dog state of the world right now.
Loved it. He was a fascinatingly straightforward and simple man with a singular and consistent philosophy. Basically beyond reproach.
I had forgotten the whole "Mr. Rogers made a generation grow up en led" argument. What a petty piece of you have to be to come up with that. Like you're telling your kids, "You're not special yet, until you make something of yourself."
Did you have a childhood?
As a child I was smart enough to get that Fred Rogers was a fruitball. Those that didn't are now suffering from gay tendencies.
Wow.
You got it all figured out.
MixedNuts...
You are what you eat, bro.
You eat stupid?
Bro o...
What's the percentage of gays of the population in 2018 vs. pick a year, bro?
Uhhhhh...
I don’t give a ?
Yeah.
Conceding the L is fine by me.
You keep that score brofessinal broccountant.
I don't need to keep score to know that you took your ball and walked home.
I don’t give a what % of the population is gay.
End of story.
You bring out of left field, I slap it away.
