It's called capitalism and liability. Every day hundreds of thousands of exchanges like that happen across the US, but only the select few where the very specific race/class difference exists gets reported for knee jerk responses and retweets.
Example:
Man sits at gas pump in his car for 2 hours and doesn't pump any gas. Station manager asks him to move his car or get gas. He refuses. Cops are called. Man is arrested.
What color is the man? You don't know. If he was black and the station owner was white, it would suddenly be a racist act. It would be reported as such and the station owner would apologize to prevent the social justice mob from burning his business to the ground either literally or figuratively through social media and misinformation spreading (with agenda written all over it).
