the oligarchy switched the govt from "tax and spend" to "borrow and spend"
cut taxes for the wealthy and BigCorp, borrow (sell bonds) to go into debt,
then reduce spending by destroying the safety net, ie, the 100Ms non-wealthy who have no say in running the country.
In parallel, BigFinance sold debt products, Bs of credit cards, home/auto/college loans, enslaving people to debt penury at usurious rates, while BigBank made nearly all its annual profits by charge $35B+ / year in bank overdraft fees.
America's lower 80% didn't get deep into a hole by themselves, and not recently. They were pushed into a hole by the oligarchy's 45 year strategy.
