You guys ever read his book Kitchen Confidential? It's hilarious, it starts with a woman on her wedding day getting plowed in her wedding dress by the busboys behind the restaurant while the groom and his mother are out front waiting for their meal.

Seemed like he really invested time in learning people in their own country.
He basically admitted he could be a jerk and he did give that air off. Honest. Head chef could be driven to this personality or vice versa. But he did seem like he could be a wandering lonely guy.
He fascinated me endlessly. I like to come home. He did not. Really bright guys like this that are invested in people but not really long lasting relationships longing for family seem vulnerable.

Whenever there wasn't anything on TV, I'd invariably put it on whatever show he had out at the time. Always interesting. Although, I'd often come away questioning my own sedentary life.

Thats the interesting thing. I have to go places and love wandering around in the middle of nowhere in a kayak or just hiking but I always long to get back to the people that are constants and back to work and a more ordered life.
I was thinking this as well possibly. But he did not mind experimenting with drugs and booze. The guy was very bright without a landing spot it seems. I think this might be a dangerous combination.
