    Pardon my mischaracterization.

Do you think Twitter should be forced by the government to carry content?
Your characterization was correct. People like to twist the meaning of private and public from different contexts. Private sector vs public sector and private company vs public company.

You didn't answer the question, so I'll put you down as a yes.

So this is a private sector public company.

Do you think the government should force them to carry content they don't want to carry?

I think you're starting with the wrong premise. What democrat is worried about Musk buying Twitter?

^ The base of the Democratic Party, namely Twitter randos with a few dozen followers, and people doing bits.

He's a thought leader on the left.
truer 10-20 years ago than today, tbh.

Reich strikes me more as the classic camp follower than chieftain, ymmv.

Elon Musk owns a chunk of Twitter.

Now he's going to run his big mouth and do the pump and dump again.

Has it been mentioned in this thread that this would fit an established pattern?

Also, wasn't the deal with Twitter (that he accepted) that he would get to sit on the board if he didn't buy more than 17% or so of the company?

the prominence of the background test in the Twitter announcement stood out to me, maybe they disdain his weed smoking or something. does Elon Musk have a criminal record?

I remember when social media was in its infancy, it was the boomers yelling loudest about how silly it was and that no one would care about anything anyone had to say. Now they're the most active Facebook users of any demographic.

Yup and they ruined Facebook. I remember here on ST when I was one of the few people here who would post Tweets and all I got was "Lol Twitter" or some snide remark about the app....now look at where we are today. They are addicted to social media and are so impressionable its crazy. They're the number one victims when it comes to information warfare.

I thought there was a website for all the Trumpsters to air their grievances, what happened to that? It was supposedly the brain child and made to benefit the author of "the art of the steal". The same guy who said he revels in disinformation tactics to insure his status as a leader of honesty. This site let you put out contracts to blow up people and objects you find unworthy, right?

So much for the takeover attempt.

Twitter's board of directors has adopted a limited-term shareholder rights plan called a "poison pill" that could make it harder for Elon Musk to acquire the company.

The "poison pill" provision, announced in a press release Friday, preserves the right for Twitter shareholders other than Musk to acquire more shares of the company at a relatively inexpensive price, effectively diluting Musk's stake. The provision will be triggered if Musk (or any other investor) acquires more than 15% of the company's shares. Musk currently owns around 9% of Twitter's shares.
