    cleared to play...
i dont want to "call" a break out season for TJ, but most will be pleasantly surprised, its amazing what a full year off can do to a very promising rookie year, this guy can HOOP.

    rolf

    i mean
    rofl

Back to the topic....it seems to me like TJ Ford is indeed too small to play in the NBA. He got hurt by Mark Madsen for Pete's sake! But there is no doubt that young TJ can seriously Hoop. He's like a black "Professor" from streetball.

TJ is not tough enough to be an NBA star. His body wont be able to take the constant pounding over the course of the season. Check the archives and you can see I said this before he was drafted too.

His height isnt the problem. Its his weight.

Iverson ain't much bigger than TJ, he's held up pretty well in the NBA so far. TJ has big time skills, he also has a 5th gear that not many players have. I remember watching him just break down opposing defenses while he was at UT, his passing skills and court vision are outstanding. He'll be a great PG/coach for the Bucks offense this next season.

^Ha, this past season woulda been a good year, instead of the huge disappointment that it turned out to be. But, I hope he does well this year, and no more injuries.

Iverson is tougher and doesnt have a major spinal problem to deal with.

It's his third annual breakout year, I'm told.

    Funny.

He isnt known for toughness, he is known for being an injury-risk. That assessment proved right, when a simple foul where barely any contact happened put him out for a year and a half.

College accolades mean nothing in the NBA.
    Just ask:
    Joe Smith
    Jay Williams
    Marcus Camby
    Calbert Cheaney
    Christian Laettner
    Lionel Simmons
    Danny Ferry
    Johnny Dawkins
    Mark Aguirre
    Butch Lee
    Marques Johnson
    Scott May

TJ Ford was never known for being tough.
From his first game with Texas, they knew he had a spinal problem.

TJ wasnt even named to the Rookie challenge when he was playing.

TJ is a very talented passer and PG, but he will never be big enough or tough enough to really make it big in the NBA.

well i say its a load of bull because we still dont know what he can do

if he happens to get thrown to the floor by Mark Madsen types every game then yes 2pac he is not tough enough to make it

but if he can stick to his game with confidence and not get thrown to the floor visciously, improve his jumper (this is the key...), and distribute the way he can, he will be a good point guard

No one doubts whether he can drive and dish. The problem is that if you watch the Spurs - Manu and Tony both drive and dish and both get thrown around big time - especially when playing teams like Seattle, Detroit and Denver. TJ will never be able to take that kind of pounding. There are too many thugs in the NBA for TJ Ford to ever be able to put on a showcase of what he can do. Sadly, with his condition he is taking his future health into jeopardy much more than the rest of the NBA players.

I am sure he would look like a champ against Phoenix.

I see your point. But I Manu has to be an exception. The guy's a freak. He's Iverson-esque. Tony is a really good comparison. Which is why i said the most important thing is him developing a jump shot. I guess easier said than done, but if he does this, which IS unlikely I'll admit, then he can avoid getting banged up easier.
