South America
Holy f*ck, the number of idiots posting here who don't know jack sh!t about football is amazing. I also think Uruguay laid their bed with their petty brand of football, but that they got robbed against Portugal and Ghana is indisputable. Had any of your teams suffered the same fate, you'd be outraged and calling for the hanging of the refs. Whatever you have to say about their game, with the right calls they'd be through to the next round.
Portugal playing 4D chess. Sending Uruguay back to the slums
bro Uruguay coach cost them the qualification not the referees. Not playing arrascaeta,
those subs against Ghana were awful….
Brazilian tv commentators iness… this B team would fight for the le
False. They're out because of goal differential, and three separate actions directly affected that, one even acknowledged by FIFA it was the wrong call (the penalty against them vs Portugal). With the same coach and petty tactics, they still should have gone through. That much is clear as day. If you're fine with that, I hope France suffers the same calls Uruguay did, and I'd love to hear you about it afterwards.
Loving the South American tears in this thread
Really grasping at straws here. Keep bringing up a penalty in the 93rd minute and in a game Portugal was already winning.
Like that was the reason Uruguay lost
Zero self awareness and accountability.
Take away that penalty, they advance on goal differential. Zero IQ.
yeah it’s like Belgium we played better than France we deserved to win against Croatia not fair
truth is if the coach had half a brain and Uruguay was thinking more about playing than hurting opponents… Uruguay would have qualified
Btw I’m pretty sure that Europe in% is doing better than South America… the Europe
No. When you get the right calls and you miss opportunities due to incompetence (like Argentina vs Sweden in 2002), you have to shut your mouth and accept your fate. After all, being efficient at defending and scoring is part of the game, and if you're not, it's only fair you pay the price (as we did many times). But when you're being adversely affected by the wrong calls time and again, that's not just your own wrong doing. Players are professionals and supposed to own up to their mistakes. Guess what, so are refs, much more so when they get the opportunity to review a play time and again, and use their power to turn a right call into the wrong one. That's unacceptable, and should all be fired.
Losing to South Korea
Penaldo MIA per par
I stand corrected.
Even still, not scoring a single goal in the 1st and 2nd match are all self-inflicted wounds.
Uruguay deserves most of the blame, not the refs.
If we go by that metric, Asia is doing better than both
This. And guys like Suarez are way over the hill, tbh
entirely true..
Still better than Ronaldo
Shows you how top heavy and watered down, CONMEBOL really is, where the 3rd ranked team cant even make it out of the WC group stage
Half the portuguese team were bench players. At least they didn't lose to Saudi Arabia with their starters
On a side note, Dani Alves is still playing football
