Current record is 17. Can Wemby surpass that? If so, how many does he get in the game?

As great as he is this would probably be highly unlikely, as teams no longer take 70 shots a game near the rim like they used to when these records were set. Too many 3s and jumpers, besides we already see players turning back when they try to drive and see Wemby lurking.

He'll still lead the league in bpg in the next 10 years though.

A few weeks ago I'd have said no, bc of the way players were starting to avoid him a lot. But he's shown a ridiculous IQ in baiting and letting some think he was out of reach + his help defense starts to bring a lot of blocks too

    Very doable imo

    He will shatter it because…

in less than a season he has started to get his nba legs…
two-three summers of hard work and transforming his boy body to a man body

he will break every record that he faces…

It's certainly possible but I'd be surprised if it happens because the NBA doesn't play inside as much as it did when that record was set.
Wemby also has a lot of other responsibilities on the floor.
If he has singularly focused on defense, didn't have a big role on offense, and could just save his energy for that one end of the floor he could do it against the right opponent.

I could see him getting to 13/14 but i just cant fathom teams challenging him that many times in a game, especially in the modern game where teams can just start hoisting 3's. It's not that he's not good enough to do it

didn't he have like 5 or 6 in a quarter against Toronto? I think he can get 20 at some point.

He can but on top of everything else he does on the team I don't see it happening unless a bottom feeder team just keeps getting baited by him one night. If the scoring is spread out more evenly and he doesn't have to spend so much energy it is very doable.

Not likely. Just not enough blockable shots for him to go after. He is excellent even out on the perimeter but most blocks still happens in the paint.

The game has changed so much. There is a reason nobody had more than 12 blocks in the 2000s. Things like this just don’t happen anymore.

Which brings it to how ridiculous it is to have wemby have multiple 5+ block games already in his rookie year during a three point dominated era. If he was playing in the 80s I’m sure he will beat the 17 block standard for a game.

Back in the 80s and even part of the 90s league leaders would routinely average more than 4 blks a game. Nowadays we are looking at mostly high 2s and low 3s on occasion.

I consider Wilt to have the record with over 20 blocks multiple times in a game.
