I would've loved Paul on the spurs at the start of last season, not for this next one. We'll have a young guard running the show
One of my least favorite players ever tbh. Not a fan of this idea. Hope we draft a PG and this doesn’t happen. With that said, there’s worse players we could sign than 39 year-old CP3 tbh.

I'm sure if the Spurs were to draft a point guard, he's going to come off the bench for the year unless he's the reincarnation of TP.
Maybe like three tbh.
I would absolutely consider it. He helped Devin Booker become Devin Booker. The Suns were trash before he taught a lot of their young players to play. But I think he's looking for a multi-year contract and to play for a contender. This is the guy who, as player rep, got the rules changed to give himself a massive payday, after all.
I don't think Chris Paul is the answer for the Spurs, but calling Tre Jones a veteran PG is a of a stretch.
IF CP3 decided to play for the Spurs at vet minimum, of course that’s great. It’s a big IF. CP3 can help define roles and get the ball where people want, it’s a big help for young players to play right (not outside of their natural roles). That’s always been Spurs’ way during championship years, to not play players outside of their comfort zones, just specialists of what they do best. CP3 plays a disciplined game that’s great for players to learn from. I hate CP3 for a lot of reasons, but as a player, he’s one of the best point guards this game ever had. And young players can only learn from.
But I doubt CP3 signs his possibly last contract with a rebuilding Spurs.
Thread gives me flashbacks to 2008 semis vs Hornets
TD gets some bad jambalaya, jannero ing pargo going off, seven game series, win in 7, asshole Stein makes G1 WCF @LAL the next ing day, lol, and then the Spurs plane gets stuck on the jetway for tech diffs. Manu was playing hurt.
Isn't CP3 the guy all his team mates hate? Probably not Spurs material.
Back in the day (2017) we were all debating on this board if Paul was washed then during the summer FA chase. I think we'd be correct this time around. Though still be a better signing than a washed up Gasoft was in that summer.
True, Chris Paul is experienced but his best days a way behind him even on a minimum contract. As a coach maybe, but I think he'll try to ring chase with one of the west coast teams or back Phoenix. Besides, he's always getting injured come playoff time probably due to age (he's old enough to be Wemby's dad) and wear and tear. No doubt we need a pg, but a pass on Paul.
If what the rumors some time ago said, the Spurs eying the 2025 draft, is true and the Spurs therefore not plan to be significantly better next season (record wise), I would not be opposed to a one or two year rental of Paul. I fthey draft a PG this year he could profit immensely from having one of the best PGs of all time as a mentor. Tre as well btw.
Can you remind me what change pls?
Iirc, that was back before he signed his last max deal, raised the age for max eligibility.
And everything that's been going on with the CBA ever since he took over as NBPA president benefited star players.
As already mentioned, he had his chance to join the Spurs in 2017. Rejected us because he thought Pop would retire.
He's about to turn 39, absolutely not worth those 30 million if his deal gets guaranteed. And if he's playing for a minimum, no way he joins a team that has no chance of winning a ring.

Now that he is completely washed up I am sure the Spurs will sign him like they always do
Iirc, he pushed the age limit back to make himself eligible for the last max contract he signed.
Everything he's done as NBPA president was in favor of star players.
