This year is slightly different from the others in that the focus is on schools and the Mayor's office, and not much on the Major Crimes Unit.
Still, great writing and intricate plotting. I'd probably be frustrated except for the fact that I can watch the shows repeatedly on HBO On Demand.
The Wire is simply amazing. It is the best show I've ever seen on television.

I had never watched an episode until i had to go out of town for work. They were showing a mini marathon of the newest season, and the show blew me away. People tell me this is the weakest season yet. So, I am very psyched to rent the first few season.
I agree this is the best drama ever on TV, and I think this season is just as good as previous ones. The junior high storyline is excellent.
The character development is as good as it gets. I find myself empathizing with drug-dealers and understanding murderers. Amazing.
I agree. I think this season is just as good as season three, if not better. If I had to rank them, it would be:
Season 1
Season 4
Season 3
Season 2
If this show doesn't take home an emmy this year it will be a ing crime.

Nice, but a lot of things unsettled for next year. And some interesting tie-ins to previous years.

i missed like 2 episodes before carcetti wins the mayoral campaign so i'm definately renting.
Can someone give me a quick rundown about what this show is about? I've never seen an episode or even heard of it, we don't get good TV down here in Australia.
