Rapper Pimp C Found Dead in Hollywood Hotel Room

Pimp CPimp C, real name Chad Butler -- and one half of the rap duo UGK, was found dead in a hotel room this morning. He was 43.

L.A. County Fire responded to a 911 call at the Mondrian Hotel, located on trendy Sunset Strip in Hollywood. They arrived to his sixth floor hotel room to find him dead in bed.

UGK is best known for appearing on the Jay-Z track "Big Pimpin'" in 2000, and more recently with Outkast on the song "International Player's Anthem (I Choose You)."

Ballerstatus is reporting that Bay Area legend Spice 1 was shot twice early this morning and is alive but in critical condition.

…Spice was shot twice, once in the chin and another time in the chest, which just missed his heart by inches.

"Yes, it’s true," Six told BallerStatus.com. "Right now, we’re asking for everyone to keep Spice in their prayers."

Spice 1 is being treated at an area hospital, unknown due to the circumstances of the shooting…

Rapper Pimp C's death ruled accidental

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Coroner's investigators have determined the death of the rapper known as Pimp C was an accident.

Captain Ed Winter of the Los Angeles County coroner's office says Monday that 33-year-old Chad Butler suffered from sleep apnea and his condition reacted badly with codeine-containing cough medicine he took. Butler's body was found in a West Hollywood hotel room in December.

Winter says the levels of promethazine and codeine cough syrup in the rapper's system "were not that of an overdose."

Pimp C, a native of Port Arthur, Texas, was one-half of the pioneering Southern rap duo UGK, or Underground Kingz. The group's self-titled CD topped the Billboard charts last year.
