Preview: San Antonio Spurs vs. Dallas Mavericks – Game #69

After splitting two games in Austin, the San Antonio Spurs will be back in the Frost Bank Center tonight when they host the Dallas Mavericks. The Spurs enter the contest with a record of 15-53, while the Mavs are 39-29 on the season.

San Antonio is coming off of a 122-115 overtime victory versus the Brooklyn Nets. Star rookie Victor Wembanyama led the way with 33 points, 15 rebounds, seven assists and seven blocks. He was 14-of-26 from the field and was at his best late in the fourth quarter and during the overtime session. A number of his teammates also played really well (see the Grades).

Dallas has been playing well lately. The Mavericks have won five of their last six games. Their latest win was a 107-105 victory over the defending NBA champions, the Denver Nuggets. To capture the win, Kyrie Irving hit a left-handed hook shot over MVP-favorite Nikola Jokic, which will go down as one of the most memorable shots of the season.

This is the fourth and final meeting between the Spurs and Mavericks this season. Thus far, the Mavs have won all three matchups. The closest game came in the season-opener for both teams back on Oct. 25 when Dallas won by a final score of 126-119.

San Antonio Spurs Injury Update

Unfortunately, there is a new injury to report for the Spurs. Zach Collins is dealing with concussion-like symptoms and is out for tonight’s game against the Mavericks. On the season, he’s averaging 11.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.9 assists.

Without Collins as the team’s backup center, expect head coach Gregg Popovich to turn to Dominick Barlow when Victor Wembanyama needs a rest.

Dallas Mavericks Injury Update

The big news for the Mavs is that Luka Doncic is on the injury report. Doncic is dealing with a sore left hamstring. That said, he has been upgraded to probable and will likely play for Dallas. On the season, the superstar from Slovenia is averaging 34.4 points, 9.7 assists and 9.0 rebounds per game.

Josh Green, who has started 32 games for the Mavs this season, will miss the game versus the Spurs due to a sprained ankle.

Betting Guide: Spurs vs. Mavericks

The Mavs are favored by nine points and the over/under is at 234.5 points. The smart money is on the over. Both the Spurs and the Mavs should be able to put a lot of points on the board tonight.
