The San Antonio Spurs play a road game tonight against the Golden State Warriors. The Spurs enter the contest with a record of 13-50, which has them in last place in the Western Conference. The Warriors are the tenth seed in the West with a record of 33-29. Golden State is three and a half games behind the Phoenix Suns for the sixth seed, which is where they’d need to climb to avoid the play-in tournament.
San Antonio has followed up a two-game winning streak with a two-game losing streak. Their latest loss was on Thursday night against the Sacramento Kings. Devin Vassell had 30 points and nine assists but the Spurs collapsed late in the game and lost by two points, 131-129 (see the Grades).
Golden State has lost two of their last three games. One of those losses was a 140-88 destruction at the hands of the Boston Celtics.
After tonight’s game, the Spurs and Warriors play again on Monday. That contest will be a home game for San Antonio. The two teams will play another game at the Frost Bank Center on March 31st.
San Antonio Spurs Injury Update
The leading story for the Spurs right now is that Victor Wembanyama will miss a second consecutive game due to an ankle injury. The Spurs haven’t won a game this season without Wembanyama. The good news is that the rookie’s injury isn’t considered to be serious. In fact, the reported plan currently is that Wembanyama could play Monday in the rematch versus the Warriors.
Joining Wembanyama on the injury report is Cedi Osman. Like Wembanyama, Osman is dealing with an ankle injury and he too will miss tonight’s game against the Warriors.
Golden State Warriors Injury Update
The Spurs aren’t the only team missing an important part of their squad. The Warriors will be without Stephen Curry tonight due to an ankle injury of his own. Curry, 35, is having another great season for Golden State. He’s averaging 26.9 points, 4.9 assists and 4.4 rebounds in 32.8 minutes per game.
Betting Guide: Spurs at Warriors
The Warriors are favored by 11 points and the over/under is 227 points. Even though Wembanyama and Curry are out, the smart money is on the over. Both the Spurs and Warriors have enough remaining talent to put points on the board. Plus, neither team is known for their defense — even in the healthiest of times.
