The San Antonio Spurs take on the Los Angeles Lakers Monday night. The Spurs have a record of 18-19 and the Lakers are 20-16.
A three-game losing streak has dropped the Spurs to under .500 and outside of the playoff picture in the Western Conference. San Antonio is currently in the 12th spot in the West, a half-game behind the Golden State Warriors.
The Lakers, on the other hand, are the sixth seed in the West. They are a half-game behind the Dallas Mavericks and a half-game ahead of the Los Angeles Clippers.
Los Angeles Lakers Resume Action
The wildfires in Southern California have caused the Lakers to postpone their last two games. First, Thursday’s game versus the Charlotte Hornets got delayed. After that, Saturday’s game between the Spurs and Lakers got postponed.
Now instead of playing two games in a row against each other in Los Angeles, the Spurs and Lakers will only play Monday’s game. A date for the postponed game hasn’t been set yet by the NBA.
Spurs Looking for Revenge
The Spurs are 0-2 against the Lakers this season. The two teams played twice in November and both games took place in South Texas.
In the first game between these two teams, the Lakers won by a final score of 120-115. About two weeks later, the Lakers beat the Spurs again. The second time, the final count was 119-101.
On Monday, the Spurs will look to avoid dropping to 0-3 against their long-time rival.
San Antonio Spurs Starting Lineup
Jeremy Sochan is listed as questionable against the Lakers. If he can play, he would likely be one of the team’s five starters alongside Victor Wembanyama, Chris Paul, Harrison Barnes and Devin Vassell.
If Sochan can’t play, expect acting head coach Mitch Johnson to start rookie Stephon Castle in his place.
Los Angeles Lakers Injury News
Both LeBron James and Anthony Davis are on the injury report for the Lakers. However, James and Davis are listed as probable. Thus, it’s safe to say that both will be available for Monday’s affair.
Another James is listed as questionable: Bronny James, LeBron’s son. Bronny is dealing with an unspecified illness.
Betting Guide: Spurs at Lakers
The Lakers are favored by 3.5 points and the over/under is 222.5 points. The smart money is on the over. San Antonio’s defense could be limited if Sochan misses the game. Furthermore, both teams will be extra rested due to Saturday’s postponed game. That rest should result in the scoreboard seeing plenty of updates on Monday evening.
