David Robinson Will Represent San Antonio Spurs at 2022 NBA Draft Lottery

David Robinson, “the Admiral,” will be representing the San Antonio Spurs in Chicago at the 2022 NBA Draft Lottery. For the first time ever, the Spurs failed to make the playoffs three years in a row. Needless to say, there is a lot at stake in this year’s draft.

The Admiral Will Represent the Spurs at this Year’s NBA Draft Lottery

The Spurs finished the regular season 34-48. It was the New Orleans Pelicans that beat them in the play-in tournament.

Zach Harper at The Athletic says, “The biggest problem for the San Antonio Spurs this season is they couldn’t beat non-losing teams … Dejounte Murray and Jakob Poeltl were really good for their roles, but they both missed 14 games. The Spurs didn’t have the depth to make up for that.”

In this year’s draft, the Spurs have a chance to try and increase their depth. The 2022 NBA Draft will take place on June 23rd. But the Draft Lottery will take place on May 17th. The team’s chances of ending up with one of the top four picks is 20%. Check out the Spurs Big Board 2.0.

Last year, the Spurs drafted Joshua Primo with the 12th pick. The year prior, the team drafted Devin Vassell. In those two years, Peter J. Jolt represented the Spurs. As to David Robinson, the Spurs drafted the Admiral in 1987 with the first pick.

Grant Afseth at Sports Illustrated states, “With Dejounte Murray taking the next step last season and Keldon Johnson making real strides in his development, there’s plenty of reason for optimism regarding the franchise’s trajectory. The development of Vassell and Primo will be important, too.”
