Castle is their smokescreen. They want the true off ball guys in Knecht, Zacch and Sheppard. They don't want to spend the on ball equity in this draft class with a big 2025 offseason ahead. My opinion.

I've thought Matas is who we're targeting for a while now. Maybe it's confirmation bias because he's #2 on my Spurs board, but I think he's got a real shot to be the best player in this draft.

With each passing day I'm more and more in favour of trading down to get more shots. I'd rather have 2 mid-teens picks and getting Devin Carter and Carlton Carrington, than keep 4 and select Castle. They are similar tier prospects, imho, and I'd prefer to get more chances to get it right. This...

I don’t think Sarr to WAS or Reed to HOU are smokescreens. They both make a lot of sense to me. ATL could throw a curveball and take Sarr - it’s a curveball only because Sarr seems to be avoiding them.

Yeah…for reference, Vegas odds for Sarr to go #2 are at -550 at this point, which implies about 85% probability. Anyways, outside of Sarr at #2 I’ve almost given up on trying to figure out how it’s all going to play out :lol Put me in the camp of “no one has a fucking clue how this draft is...

If you believe that’s not a smokescreen, sure. Right up until draft night, Jabari Smith was supposed to go #1, and he fell to #3. Front offices spread disinformation, and flat out lie to pressure trades. Blame Boston and their successful Philly heist. Everyone seems to think they can replicate...

Sure in this draft that’s possible but by all accounts it seems like WAS will 100% take Sarr at 2 if hes there.

It’s his Spurs board, not overall draft board. Other teams boards may, and probably do look different. There are probably 5-6 players who could legit go #1. Sarr could drop like a rock if there are a couple of trades for wants or needs.

Uriel blows his load over this big board and uses it as confirmation bias even though absolutely no one knows who the Spurs are truly valuing most Wednesday can’t come soon enough. Will be glad to finish draft day without Zaccharie becoming a Spur and hear no more of this nonsense tbh.

In an ideal world, if you want Chris Paul, you wait until GS releases him, then sign him to an MLE deal. The last thing you want is him tearing up your locker room looking for a follow on to his $30M contract. If you pick him off the scrap heap, that doesn’t become an issue.

I guess the big question is: Is there anyone SA likes so much more than everyone else that they would trade up for him? Because if you have Sarr as 2nd on the board only way to get him is to move to pick 1. Risacher can probably be had at pick 4 however. Reed is above all of them IMO and I kind...

in an ideal world, we trade for CP3 and draft his heir apparent in Sheppard to take the reins next. I would be so happy.

I don't see it as an either or between SF and PG. If they trade up to 1 for Risacher, I would think it'd be part of a package for Murray, not as a standalone. As far as the bigger need, despite the perception, Jones grades out as a higher impact player than Johnson. But, Champagnie provides a...

I like the idea of signing Chris Paul. He's just about done as a player but he has always been a quintessential professional. The Spurs are in desperate need of veteran players to teach the young ones how to be true pros.

For my tin-foil hat compadres. Two notable names absent from the workout tracker atm - Matas Buzelis and Cody Williams and a third that is on the rise in Carlton Carrington. Sochan and Primo both didn’t show up on the tracker pre-draft. And although I can’t confirm it now, also believe...

God I'd hate that. Don't feel strongly enough about any prospect to convert two swings to one when it's extremely likely the Spurs will have at least one of Risacher, Castle, and Sheppard to choose from at 4. Any of the three would make me happy at 4.

For all the smoke and mirrors, the top of this draft is really simple. Atlanta drafts Clingan. Washington gets Sarr. Houston nabs Sheppard. And we select Risacher. Everyone gets the top choice on their draft board. Everyone is happy.

In my opinion, it's not that the hole at SF doesn't exist. It's simply that most people realize filling the PG hole first will pay way higher dividends. Risacher would certainly fill a big gap, provided of course his game actually translates to the NBA. A great PG would be more preferable but...

Vecenie on Castle's weaknesses WEAKNESSES: Castle is not overly explosive. He’s not deficient athletically and gets a lot out of his gifts on the court because of his strength, but he’s not someone who flies around. He can throw down and dunk, but typically must load up off two feet. He has some...

More from Vecenie: STRENGTHS: Castle has awesome measurements for an NBA wing at 6-5 1/2 without shoes and a 6-9 wingspan. His 8-6 standing reach will work well across the positional spectrum. He looked big for the college game and was also a strong athlete. He’s not elite in terms of...

Sarr doesn't have positional versatility and the difference between them is, if Sarr's theoretical offensive skills never become a reality, he can still be a good, versatile defensive anchor and play a low usage/high efficiency style, where he rim runs, plays out of the dunker spot and vertical...

Here's a short version of Vecenie's take: puts Castle as his #3 prospect and in Tier 3: High-Leverage Starters, behind Sarr and Sheppard and ahead of Clingan and Risacher in the tier. Highest tier he has anyone ranked in this draft: SUMMARY: Castle is polarizing this year because of his jumper....

I normally agree but I know several here have favorites that won't be there at 35. They're interested in Kolek, Carrington, Smith, Edey, Furphy, Scheierman, Dadiet, etc. Maybe the Spurs like one of these guys too. I'd rather trade seconds for future firsts myself.

Well, Spurs have more than 1 hole. I'm not saying "Risacher is #1 for Spurs". Spurs might even agree with you and have Risacher very low on their board. What I'm saying is for other franchises, Risacher being #1 for Spurs is what seems the most likely. BTW, Risacher is currently under...

Bro this really reads like all you had were two bullet points and then you added 3 and 4 because you thought two wasn’t enough. The Spurs have a huge hole at point guard and that’s pretty much what’s acknowledged universally, not SF. The Spurs have scouted everybody and there’s not much...

It is just that Clingan and Sarr are just way better fit for Hawks. Capela is struggling and they really need a good center.
